Heading to Bonneville August 9th and will be p***ing thru Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; INDY, Lincoln, Nebraska; to name a few. Any suggestions where to stop for a meal. Looking for old diners, car themed restauants, etc.

  2. There's a nice diner owned by a car guy in downtown Ogallala, Nebraska on the old Highway 30. Just shy of where I-80 branches into Colorado (I-76). I last stopped there on the way back from Speed Week in '03. It was good.

  3. I'm leaving the 8th with some visit stops planned and meeting some of the #974 Stude crew in Blanding, UT for some hiking mid-week before going up to Wendover on the 16th. Vacation is vacation....

Maybe a little late for you, but on Friday, August 15th, I'll be having a Bonneville party here in Omaha, Ne. The next morning I'll be leaving with Megan and Denise to head to Utah.

You are welcome to stop by, no matter when you are coming through town.

  6. The "vacation is vacation" was for the working guys. It's just another road trip for me. As you will agree there's more to a trip to Bonneville than Bonneville...

Look for THE MACHINE SHED, Davenport Iowa and several other cities. Family owned, great decor, BEST stuffed pork chop in the world (Huge). Well worth the stop.

Retirement can be very stressful. A vacation is a great way to get your head straight. I'll be retired 6 years next month and I try to take a dozen vacations a year to keep calm.

If your looking for good eats in utah....
    the training table
the purple - all over the state turtle - pleasant grove
    the brick oven - provo
    the underground - provo
There is the best hamburger in the state from heber, just over from park city. Right on main street. it looks like a little house converted to a hamburger stand.
The artic circle is good if you can find one.c
if you have any kind of sweet tooth stop in salt lake at snellgroves icecream.

if your wanting to do anything outdoors utah is the place. While your down that way go over to Topaz mountain and do some rock hounding. get ya some trilobytes and fossils or climb some natural bridges.

aussiesteve...we are planning on visiting a number of car related places before we arrive at the flats....our Caddy powered T isn't made for the 70 mph cruising some are doing...therefore we are takin' our time and plan to "smell the roses" as we head west...
