Kinda like the birth of a new child, you are all in knots, making sure it works. Boy- does it ever. One of the *****inest first rides of my life! Next stop, custom lettering, then its time to makes its first p***! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZum0jYG3ns Dale the funnycar farmer.
I'd guess she needs broke in but I was still waiting to see you stand on it when you came back around... Thats a bad car man.
The sound isn't working on my computer because I'm an idiot and don't know how to fix it. So I made sounds while I was watching this. SWWWWWWWEEEEEEEETTTTT ride!
Thats funny! I was hoping to call it a "fog bank" when it comes out of the water box at Irwindale in the coming weeks. Jason Kennedy is going to come by today (I'm lucky enough to have him live nearby) and help me prep and polish the paint to get it ready for gold leafing and lettering. The paint is so thick, he says even a half-wit amateur like myself should not be able burn through it! I'll leave it to a pro to show me how its done! He hasn't seen me with a polisher!
What are you going to paint on it? I'm thinking something along the lines of Fenner Tubbs for my car.
Is that the one you guys built in the Funny Car Farm video? It looks... different? That video is awesome. It's how I spend my (boring) Saturdays here at work. Congrats! Jay
Jay- this is the 'sister' car to the FunnyCarFarm 'Dart. We did Steve's first, then I got to work on mine once Steves got fleshed out enough to be a daily driver. We were to start match racing them, but Steve is now relocated to the East Coast, so theres a West Coast Dart and an East Coaster. Mine has evolved a bit from his, with a few changes from what is in the DVD, but they are just about identical. Well, almost. Mine is "alternatively powered" by a high winding small block chevy while his is stump-pulling 440 Mopar cross ram. Dale
Like Joe Smith's. He still talks about his injected car as being one of his favorites. He's a legend down here...
Rich-before Steve moved, he drew up several sketch drawings with different era looks. I'm taking alittle from each, as they all had something to offer. Also, a small tribute in the form of gold leafing from your Performance King lettering, as well as Steve's Shaker. I've also been am***ing a small collection of vintage water slide decals, a few of which will be very appropriate on the car in some various spots. I put some seat time on the car today, trying to see where its puke point would be without running a shroud. It was about 93 here today, and it hovered around 185 degrees. When I fab up a shroud for it, it ought to be okay for some extended cruises with the little radiator I squeezed in. Rich-it is as you describe- an unruly, loud , obnoxious car that is a rolling nuisance. I love it!!
I love that you put a chevy motor in it. Steve was pretty militant about "Precedents". But everybody gets Bored. I just set up a 530 inch Hemi in a 63 Pontiac Tempest. The coolest thing about early to mid sixties drag cars was that they clearly didn't give a ****. Remember the "Odd Couple" front engine dragster? That's how we roll brother
Bad-****ing-***! I love the early A-body Darts, especially when done like that. It makes my sticker peck out, can I have it?
Amen, bother! The red Nova was sent off to help with funding this car, as well as paying off some bills. Its actually up in the Seattle area, and the guys already taken it to the track, forgetting to air down the tires and running low twelves. I had a tone o' fun with that ride, my girls gre up with it, but it was transition time for me. I bought an old '65 Nova wagon to get my Nova fix. Its slammed, but is all new suspension and drivetrain.Just a fun beater, but the altered now fills my every minute, and thats what I pretty much think about all the time. I want to find an early Caliente to do next for an altered. You see alot of them g***ered out, but few taken all the way to the extreme. Bodacious- sure you can have it...... For a price.... But not 'till I get my rocks off on it for awhile!!!! I wanna drive it to the track, crack off an 11-teen at around 120, air up the tires and then drive it home, watching everyone scratch their ***es in wonder and confusion!!! Dale
