I'll see one occasionally, but they're few and far between. I think it's cool in a "used to be state of the art" way.

 

Mine sits on my desk next to my keyboard...

 

Here is my vintage 1975 Motorola still in use and accurate .

 

Oh great... I've been getting out-bid trying for an old tach for a couple of weeks now... and now this thread is back up the competition for tachs on "that" auction site is going to spike like crazy.

 

So now you know whos been out-bidding you>>>>.

I saw this one in a book, it says all the gauges are Auburn but I guess I've never seen an auburn tach like this. What year and model did these tachs come in? Its pretty damn cool, real simple. Sorry about the crappy scan.

These were in a hot rod in 1950, I think the Allard they came out of was 1938 or so (don't quote me)...

 

I thought someone might have posted an Airguide by now. Prolly out of a boat, but I picked it coz it looks at home in the 54.

I hated to gut it, but I put modern Sun Tach guts in it to get it to work. There's something about buying a tach in a blister pack that says 'quality' aint there?

do you really need one with a shift light??
unless your stereo is louder than your car,you'll know when to shift.

 

The gauges are 35/36 Auburn but I do not know what the tach is from.

 

The Stahl tach was just one of many made by Jones Motrola for
independent dealers with their name on the faceplate.
I have one with Moroso's name on it..Same basic unit.
The pic happens to show the tattletail at 9100 rpm which was a bit excessive due to wrong gears in the rear end.

OK, I'll play. Here's an mechanical AC tach I picked up because it matched an AC gauge set that I have. Trouble is, the gauges are '34 or '35 vintage. I can't imagine what was capable of running at 8 grand in '35. Any ideas what it came out off?

 

Vintage Yes! Shift light no. Maybe the shift light is for a dude with vintage vision. LOL>>>>.

 

I'n gonna run the Sun Super Tach on the dash of my 55 if I ever get it finished. But, up under the scoop, in line of sight with the tach, I'm gonna have a shift light. Hey, some of us are getting old and blind.

I have one of the "Big Daddy" Dixco tachs painted like an American flag but mine is made to mount on the column. Had it since the mid 70's.

 

During the same period, there was a Dixco Gary Beck tach with a red and white Canadian maple leaf design. I'd love to find one of those.....

 

Hey Guys,
I just acquired this Dixco tach from a buddy of mine - 0-11K rpm with an adjustable shift light - Can anyone provide any info on this such as period of manufacture and wiring instructions would be appreciated. I do have several other dixco tachs from the 60's-70's but this is the first I have seen of this type - It seems to be a entry level item seeing the housing/cup is mostly injected molded rather than the traditional steel housing/cup or is it just a practice to cheapen the manufacturing method - It is marked Dixson incorporated, made in USA on the rear of the cup - Is this a difficult to find tach? Any value to this before I open the housing to replace the wiring which has been clipped at the rear of the tach - Thanks for your help - Ed

anybody know anything about the eqqus pro racing tachs from the late eighties early nineties? had one for years has been in about 6 different cars,still works fine. the case was actually real chrome,not plastic as they are made now. seems a lot better quality then their new stuff which is low end junk now.
