    Question.

How does the fill neck seal to the gas tank on a '35. Mine leaks. I took off the taillight and I can move the fill neck back and forth but I can not pull it out. Is there an o-ring in there or what?

    This is on a coupe.

    Thanks.

There is a very fine threaded steel collar about two inches long with a series of 1/4 inch holes around the top. It is tightened with a SPANNER wrench that has a tang that goes into one of the holes and lays against the outer surface of the collar. The seal between the filler tube and the tank is/was a LEAD ring. Some type of obsolete parts house may know where to get a seal. I suppose you could make one out of a solid wire solder. The surface where they meet is tapered. First thing is to try to just tighten it down. I have been lucky a couple of times in the past. If it has been moved a bunch, it has spread the seal. Sometimes you will be able to tighten it again. It is common for them to leak, especially if the tank is full...........jb EXSEDAN

I see the collar you mention with the holes. I will try to tighten it. Sure makes it easier when I know how it is put together. Thanks a bunch.
