I just hurt the motor in my old truck (daily driven) and well when I pull it, this next time, I want to get rid of the heavy *** FMX and put in a heavy, bulky *** AOD. I need to know what all I need to buy. Whats the best brand? Where to buy............ I don't know **** about this OD thing please anybody fill me in..... also for all ya'll 61-66 ford truck guys I think mine has like stock mounts out of a 70ish PU will 67 Mustang long tube headers fit? but the biggest question is what all do I need to keep my AOD from blowin up.... BTW I'll probably have a shop hook up the TV cable but I'll buy it so they can put it on.

    Heres My Info:
    1966 Ford Truck LWB
    302 Ford

I put an AOD in '66 and had to cut and raise hump a few inches. I still need to check pressures with my homemade linkage. A C4 would fit much better.

yeah I got a C4 but I dirve it like300 miles a week and thought It would be a little nicer with a 4th gear. I would seem like you could put any transmission in one of these things don't the trans tunnel unbolt on these?

The TV hook up on an AOD Ford trans is very important.

Ford used a rod TV setup and on later stuff used a cable from the carb to the transmission

Lokar company offers a cable setup for an AOD TV setup for many transmissions. it may or may not fit your application.

I just checked my 66 is welded to. I had a 64 that was removable that must of been why I thought that. Do you have any pictures of what you had to do to even fit the AOD.

Get the Lokar bracket and cable it makes it a 30 minute EZ job, send me a pm with email address if you want a pic of the hookup.also you will want a 88-91 AOD they are non-computer and have all the upgrades the earlier ones had a fair amount of problems.www.becontrols.com has a lot of good AOD info on their site.

Hump is big enough now for trans, but not sliding it in. A couple hours of cussing and BFH on my floor got it in. Here's TV rod and crossmembers.
