i know this is a dumb question but what bolts do i need and how many washers do i need to bolt my 283 to my enginge stand. thanks for the input
is this stuff not in front of you so you can't measure it... or you are not sure how to measure for these? either way, might be difficult for anyone to answer without knowing what kind of engine stand you have. basic engine stand that mounts where bellhousing bolts up should be ordinary 3/8" - 16 thread per inch. how many washers? only reason you'd need more than one per bolt is if your bolts are bottoming out when threaded in. is this what you are axsking?
I'll bet that helped him figure out his answer..... I use grade 8 bolt's, although it's overkill..the hole's are 3/8 16 thread on your 283 as The Monkey said. The length will depend on your stand. Ideally you want a good 3/4" of thread showing with the bolt through your stand..This way you have that 3/4 in the motor.. Washer's..I just use a couple on each bolt..Nothing special. As was mentioned, IF one bottom's out, you can add washers to "shorten" the bolt until it clears and still has sufficient depth into the motor.
thanks for the reply's and yeah i know it ain't hard to bolt up a motor to a stand but when you ain't ****ed with any of this stuff for years you sorta forget things, sorry were not all as good as you jimmyv
