I want to add a truck to the driveway. Not very knowledgeable on what these go for so I thought I could use your noggins to figure out a good price.

I've had 5 different 48-53 F1's. Have 2 right now. Got them all in the free to $300.00 each range all mostly complete with flathead V8's.

I'm NO pro on F series prices, but i'll toss out my thought's anyway..
If you REALLY wanted THAT particular truck, i'd say 1000 and honestly that's probably too much..
I'd *think* you could find one in similar condition for under a grand..
Although if one's not near by you would have to pay to ship or spend money to get it..
Dosn't look like a bad truck at all.. Just think he's priced way high, and chances of him coming down to a reasonable price with where he's at might not be good.
    Good luck.

Looks like it COULD run, but judging by the belts off the engine I'd say it needs "something"

i paid 1000 for my old one and drove it home.

  8. i would say around a grand as well for a complete truck , this one doesnt appear to be beat to death as most trucks .. will it start? roll? does the motor turn over or locked up? is the frame rotted out?

Well the generator is missing. Have you tried to turn it over with a socket/breaker bar? Have you looked at the oil on the dipstick (if any), If it's been sitting unused for any length of time it's probably locked up. If it turns over you can still probably count on stuck valves. Does it get below freezing there? If so does it have water in it or does it at least have antifreeze? If it's been sitting for years and years with water that's been freezing I'd check for cracks.

Ah ****, I forgot that's where they put it on the ford flathead. I have access to a 53 ford sedan in my mothers ba*****t I should have known that.

I was just trying to see what these might go for in running or close to running shape. I haven't spent 5 minutes with it as of yet.

I know I want a truck, haven't researched too much into it. This one just came along.

The frames very seldom rot out on the F=1's unless it has been used to haul fertilizer most of it's life. If the flattie will turn over, it can be made to run. Although they are getting more expensive, I've have trouble sleeping if I had paid much over $600 or $700 for it, especially if it was a great distance back to home.

  12. From all the photos...not a dime over $500.

I have owned 6 or 7 or these trucks and they are great projects. For the asking price I would want the motor and ****** in good order. It looks like it might have the magic aire heater system but I can't really tell for certain from the pics or what shape it is in but that is a nice thing to have. The gauge bezels look like toast but you could always clean them up and paint them nice as the rest of the dash chrome. The body is average for being 56 years old. Couldn't see the bed condition. Bumpers look good but kind of heavy duty. With the amount of body work ahead of anyone buying it and the unknown condition of the motor, and the all around condition I wouldn't pay more than $800 for it as is. The parts alone are worth more than that, especially the fenders if they aren't real bad. It definitely has possibilities though but not for his asking price. If he hauled it to LA he would probably get his money quickly. JMHO.

I sold a better looking '51 with very nice original interior, rusty running boards and front fender seams, running and driving V-8 last year for $1,500. It even had original chalk/crayon marks on the firewall. His price seems high to me.
I recently gave $1,200 for a running driving '53 Chevy 5 window truck with later six and rear end in it, heater, no rust on exterior body except running boards, floor fair with old signs used to fix them. Gl*** not so good, but converted to 12 volts and 5 lug wheels.

It looks like it has big truck front fenders as the wheel openings look too big.

    Good eye!

Compare the driver side wheel opening to the p***enger side. See how much higher the wheel opening is on the driver side. So at least the driver side is big truck and you would want to swap it out so you don't have mis matched fenders.

    Hmmmm food for thought! :)

I was just driving around and saw this. Glad I have an iPhone so I could get good pics of it, but I knew it was way too much.... just didn't know how too much until I come here to ask.

Yeah, I thought that, but never said anything. F2s and F3s had the same fenders...
