I always try to make it to Hudson for this show. They drag out all the cool stuff for this one. How about a nice '56 White COE. This would make a neat ramp truck, it's even got a sleeper. How 'bout some headlights? Truckers are hoarding them, that's why hotrodders can't get any! Damn things were everywhere today. Here's another set, a little cross-eyed. Now you know what the side mount ones go on. There's those lights again
Gotta love old trucks. It is truly a labor of love to bring back those old beasts as most had horribly hard lives. Thanks for sharing the pics.
A few more odds and ends.. 1910 REO 1910 Autocar Here's those damn wheels everbody's looking for! Interesting way to work on your Dodge, surprised to see a small block in this! Trucks are good for hauling stuff.. Trailer queen.. A chain drive Sterling, about 40 mph top speed and the best in show! Check out the guy on the right! That's probably how we ALL look to that girl!
Man, I wish I knew about this!! I saw a mint B-model Mack drive by the house today, must have been coming from the show. Thanks for the pics, this is a year's worth of wallpaper Give us a heads-up for next year's event!
This is a pretty good list for New England events. http://clubs.hemmings.com/frameset.cfm?club=maynardaac Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on the "Events List" link Next weekend is Stowe VT
Great pics... I've been a member of ATHS for quite some time... If you like big trucks, the have a great show in Macungie, PA every Fathers Day weekend. There is an all Brockway truck show in Cortland NY this Saturday. The shut down two blocks of Main St. and park about 100 trucks. (Brockways were made in Cortland from 1912 or so to 1977...) The next day the Twin Tiers Chapter will be having their annual big truck show in Cortland. If all goes well, my 1955 Brockway will be making it's maiden voyage to both shows... Tom
Here are some pictures I took at the 2008 ATHS National Convention & Antique Truck Show in Hutchinson, Kansas. http://www.crablogic.com/truckshow.htm The first 8 pictures are of my wife's Uncle's 1954 Mack LJT CRAB
You've gotta love those Sterlings. Some of their three-axle trucks had a bathtub sized differential between the two axles, with individual chain drives to each pair of wheels. It was set up so that there was a differential between the wheels on each axle, but also a differential between the two axles themselves. Lube oil capacity was somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 gallons. Tak about a complex mess!
Very nice photos. Looks like a lot a very high quality work on a lot of those trucks. Some of those rigs have got to have a lot of cash wrapped up in them. Probably makes building a hotrod seem like nothing. Good thing is the rat rod craze doesn't seem to hit these guys too much. I would guess it is a little hard to have a half ***, rust bucket, unsafe truck and get much respect for it. At least in that crowd anyway. Even the "joke" trucks, the big rig pickups which I find pretty stupid actually (just my personal opinion), must have a pile a dough in them as well and do seem to at least be built very well.
Thanks, That was the first truck show I had been to, and it was pretty cool. Naturally they take up a lot more real estate, so there is a lot of walking involved. "Uncle Bob" has been restoring his 54 Mack for about 7 years. He has several hot rods and original cars and graduated to the big trucks. His work quality is every bit as nice as some street rods I have seen. CRAB
