Is it too much to ask? I just want a set of simple black plug wires that I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for. 90 deg boot on each end. Gotta be points style on distributor cap end. I want to cut and crimp myself on one end. All I keep finding are wires with red/orange/gray boots or when I find a black wire, its got all this bright large writing. This is going on a SBF. Any suggestions? The closest I've found was some Jegs carry.
I got some black wires with black boots at Autozone...they were pre-made though..for sbc. The white letters came right off with carb cleaner
ACCEL makes a set that you need. My 2005 ACCEL catalog shows the 8 mm Superstock 400 Series in black with 90 degree boots that you cut to length and attach the distributor 90 degree ends. I think the part number is 4041B, but check to make sure. I think Advance Auto can order them for about $36 a set.
Frank...if I could, I would... That being said.. 90 degrees at the plug is all good, but you need options... http://www.brillman.com/

I have these on my Flathead. They work fine... http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/2378,,_Flathead-Universal-Plug-Wire-Kits.html?itemNo=ignition wire
"4041B"...I believe that it is still true that the bright yellow Accel sets can all or mostly be ordered black by adding in that "B". If you want pre-terminated stuff, this gives you lots of options.
You can call these guys They will do anything you want no extra charge And you'll not be needing another set for a very long time Good people good product
i had the same issue earlier this year. i found these at my local "bumper to bumper" auto parts store. they look grey in the pic, but, they are black.
This guy has what you need. For the old timers the Packard 440 lettering is a plus. Packard 440 wire was a hot rodder's upgrade in the early sixties. I bought a whole roll of it off of Ebay real cheap. I detest anything but black plug wires...purple, lime green, yellow? please...
Go by any NAPA store, I run a NAPA store and have all the parts you need on the shelf to build plug wires, wire by the foot, individual boots and ends if you want to custom build a set. Its also very inexpensive. I make wires for Hot Rods, Tracters and old bikes all the time for my customers.
If you plan on having a radio and listening to it, you had probably better stick with the resistor core wires like Accel or Taylor.
I got MSD black wires (7mm) from Advance Auto Parts. I think they were regularly $42 and they had them on sale for like $36. Good set and good ends with a tool to install the ends. I was impressed with that part. Two different kinds of ends too. I got a "OEM set" for my '56 from Summit that were Petronics and they were way too short. Had to send them back. They already had the ends on them. The MSD's were perfect for me. Lots of extra wire too.
