Anyone from this site heading for Reno? Do traditional and vintage rods attend,or is this a Fonzi-Fest for the billet smoothies?

Just moved back east from where I lived near Reno. You will see all kinds of cars but the "registered 5000" will all be chainers. Take lots of money. They park the cars in the casino parking lots in Reno and Sparks as well as closeing off the main drag in Reno. Motel rooms will be at a premium even 50 miles or more away.Parking lots out by the airport will be full of inclosed trailers so the dudes don't have to get there cars dirty by actually driving them to Reno. I quit going after the first few years. Easier to stay home and look at the pictures of their cars in Street Rod magazine. This all being said if you can go on the cheap and enjoy cars go for it. A cruise around lake Tahoe is real lifetime experience.

Thanks for the input guys. That's kinda what I was thinking it was like, but I've never been and we are going to be in the area visiting friends who dig the swap meet. So that will be where we'll spend most of our time.

Yep, hit the swap meet which begins Thursday Aug 7. Not the best in the world, but stuff there from out of state that you will not see elsewhere. Plus, being run by a new group this time. So, will be interesting to see how they do. Car corral may have some treasures. Downtown commercial vendors building usually good-Summit, etc there.
The old operators group had a Reno Swap in Sacramento Sunday-was told that it was pretty big.

We'll be driving up in the Studebaker. We've been going for a while and always have a good time. Lots of free 50s and 60s music everywhere you go. Will also be interested to check the swap meet. For me the best part is, the cars are driving all over town and though a lot of cars look the same, you will see a good share of "wow, look at THAT!" If you see our bright red '53 Stude be sure to say hi.
