Being one step out of the stone age I don't have a digital camera. I'm lucky to get this far on the computer.
Anyway I got some fishing done with my son and today we prepped and painted the flathead block. Royal Maroon

  5. Decided to drive the 41 Pontiac to the HAMB drags next month, so I yanked the old 6 volt generator off the engine, scored a one-wire 12 volt alternator and began devising an alternator mount.....got stuck shopping all day with Missus Rocky today....mowed the grass, cleaned the gutters....usual boring stuff.

I walked by my ford and realized how cool it will be when a real drive train gets put in it...

  7. Some asshole tried breaking into my garage last night so I had to do a quick inventory check this morning. Best they could do was lift the outside door up about 5". Couldn't grab anything, so they buggered off. Nothing taken that I could see, but made sure the doors and windows are secured. Found the clip for the varmint gun and loaded it with 22 shorts. Going to buy some rat traps tomorrow.

One redeeming quality the Arab nations have is their treatment of thieves.

catch a thief and cut off his hands. That's justice! That's the problem with our society. No accountablilty and not a strong enough punishment system. I say make a few examples and that will stop the rest of the criminals.

i spent all weekend hand cutting a "ROCKETS" plaque from plastic stuff to try to cast out of aluminum...made a whole oven/kiln...made a small casting and didnlt have much luck...im thinking too much moisture in the mold making air bubbles under the aluminum...we'll see....1st times not a charm...100000 ways not to make a light bulb i hear...so a few on the plaque is ok i hope

3 cars shows in there too but nothing im really into at any of them aside form a chopped 52 chev with 49 ford tailights 50's style....pretty nice

    thats all

  11. Moved the 216 I got to the middle of the garage floor, set my frame around it, put Denise's dads Olds rear at the back, a radiator at the front, 2 lawn chairs just in front of the rear axle and sat in the garage for an hour with my 3 month old son making "vroom vroom" noises.

Now I just gotta come up with funds for the 24 Stude tub in Cali, and get with Levi's Classic to get that column, if he still has it!

  12. Last weekend the house had it's electrical panel upgraded to 100 amp/breakers (was 60 amp/fuses!!) and the garage sub-paneled for the TIG.
THIS weekend cut apart a couple of the bicycles that have been left here for a little practice welding. Nothing like practice and customizing on the same dime, as it were.
Cruised the 2CV exclusively, and prepared for court tomorrow, whereby the ex-wife has a train ran over her, as she can, in no wise, be prepared for the drubbing she is about to endure. Story later, if I think of it...

Let's see...helped DirtyT get his girlfriend's Chevelle project underway...a little wiring work and it was starting and running from INSIDE the car now!

Got my radiator in the 49 and mocked up an improvised alternator bracket.

Went over to RocketJ2's house to see his "Modified Mock Up", drink beer and help his boy catch fireflys for a few hours...

...all in all, a pretty good one! [IMG] [IMG]

I poured a bit of brake fluid into my master cylinder yesterday. Then this morning, I came outside and found said brake fluid staining the ground around my front driver side tire. Of course, I had to take my wife about 1 hour away to visit her sister(not in the leaky car!)-so I got to do nothing about it.

It wasnt too much of a wasted day.

Fired up the '69 yamaha for the first time in 20 years, in doing such caused a golf-ball sized black widow to emerge, melted the straw on my carb cleaner while cremating the absolute fuck out of it...

MAJORLY kleened out and organized my garage, so I could additionally fit a later model in there as well... once thats sawed into leetle pieces and swept away, the LOS will be assessed and firing the motor will be attempted.

Went to the Barris Kustom city thing, enjoyed a FREE rolling rock, listened to the greatest surf punk band that has ever arrived here from a distant planet, and chatted wif some hamb people in real life.

Then went back to work fragmenting said late model...

Drove the 32 to Wishita,Ks, walked a zillion miles at the Moonlight Madness show, ate PEEZA at
Old Town, drank a local's beer, slept over at his house, went to the largest free show at Lake Afton Goddard, Ks on Sunday.
Saw a killer pickemup with one serious ZEEd frame.
looked for The HAMBS own Mcphail, but never found him.
    Came home Sunday eve.
Gotta say the 32 handles the hyway good.

  22. Ran all my errands (grocery store, haircut, liqour store) in the coupe. Cleaned and R/R the wheel bearings on the Roadster. Got the wheel seals, "they" sent the wrong rears. Nursed an aching back and celebrated Granmom's 94th B-Day.

Actually DROVE the car around. Went down to the Sonic Burger on Friday night where a lot of people hang out on Fridays. There were a lot on nice muscle cars, some gold chain coupes, and some kids on sport bikes; not a lot of trad stuff, but some cool cars non-the-less. One guy showed up in a tall-T that was painted some crazy burnt orange color running a blown small block and huge meats in the rear. Another guy and his two little kids showed up in a T-bucket running a monster motor and zoomies that sounded pretty cool.

My car ran pretty good, and a lot of people were checking it out (probably because it’s the first time they had seen it there). Since my car looks kinda stock, some people were pretty surprised when they looked under the hood and saw a big block (and 4-speed)!

Anyway, it was fun, I’ll head back in a few weeks again a take a few pics this time.

Here's a pic of the car from a few months ago:

  26. Took the Rockey '65 for its first legal drive.
The T stat stuck and it overheated. I swear I'll never tag one again. [IMG]
Changed the stat and the PKnBner has a new old daily driver. [IMG] [IMG]
Rockey this old beater is the tits friend.

  27. I cleaned and disassembled the cylinder head Dago Red hooked me up with for Faye. We checked it for tiny cracks with this red dye and spray on white powdery stuff my Dad's friend brought over. Interesting process and the head is crack free so today it's at the machine shop.

While we were working in the garage a friend stopped by and we scored some old hot rod mags/how-to books.

After we finished the cylinder head job, Dad and I were talking about what we need to do and buy to get Faye back on the road. During the course of that conversation, I mentioned that at some point I wanted to put in a Vintage Air unit. Turns out Dad had a used working one laying in a box in the garage and GAVE it to me! YAY! So just like that, I now have a vintage air unit which gives me A/C AND solves my 12 volt heater motor problem for when I do the conversion.

    It was an excellent weekend.

Went to work on the car and found standing water in the trunk and tons of mold everywhere else. Found out Napa doesn't keep weatherstripping in stock.

Went out to my grandpa's farm with the intention of learning to weld and making my alternator bracket.

Learned the basics of arcwelding with damp flux on rusty scrap, then turned fabrication over to my cousin (who could actually make nice welds with damp flux on rusty scrap). Hid behind my cousin's jeep, absolutely convinced I'd be able to add to the shop safety thread, while my cousin used the cutoff wheel. Ran out of time and went back to practice more welding while my cousin left for work.

Shot the shit with my Grandpa (mom's dad), then went up the road and had dinner with Grandma (dad's mom).

Got nothing accomplished on the car, but I consider it a successful weekend.

took the bags out of the rear end, and sent them in for warranty...they were seperating. while i had them out i figured i might as well make some changes, so i cut some more, and welded some more, and it will drop an extra 3/8" in back. i know, thats not much, but thats all it needed to hit the ground. as soon as i get bags back, i'll post some pics
