Yep ! Would not put any big power in front of it though, as I recall 230 -6 was about as big as used the aircooled. A friend of mine recently put one in a 28 A P/U with a Chevy II 4 banger. Also takes a special converter.
My Dad ran one in a 54 Chevy PU, behind a smallblock. He even towed with it, without any problems. It was in there for years. He drove it everyday. Dean
The special converter has little blades on it to move air and the bell has holes in it for airflow. Good little ******. I don't see why it wouldn't work just fine. The stock trans cooler in a glide is in the radiator tank and holds maybe a 1/2 to 3/4 cup of ATF and cools it in 160-220 degree hot water. I like powerglides. I just bought another last week and I wish it was an aircooled one for the project I have in mind for it. overspray
Got one in my 65, never had a problem, If memory serves me, they can be push started! Get it up to about 30mph and drop in gear?
Early ones had rear pumps, some had two br*** bolts where the cooling lines went can be removed and fittings and lines used
I ran one in High School, in a '63 Bel Air. I swapped the 230 for a junkyard 350 and topended a new Grand Prix on the Interstate. That was a good ******- and still worked years later.
Kinda close, but my 64 Pontiac Tempest had a 215 (chebby engine) I upgraded to a 250 that with a 2spd Super Turbine 300 that was air cooled, it had a dual bolt pattern bellhousing. Holes in the bellhousing also. Never gave me any problems. A cooler can be added, just don't hook the lines directly to the case, use the fittings in the case or it will crack. But if thats all the engine in front of it I wouldn't worry about it.
