So we are sitting around the BBQ Friday night at the Centerpoint Marriot and I hear the Low rumble of V8 exhaust, See the Big olds poking its headlights around the corner. We had a nice visit with Denise and her friend before the clouds opened up. Saw the big Old's butt in a Parking lot on Woodward Saturday night, did a lap around the Shell station but didn't see you there. Nice to meet you and thanks for the tip on Memphis smoke. 9 of us went and had a good meal. G
I took some shots at that gathering....will post later....I found the music from the 'Midnight Sun' pool-party club the Marriot has now to be rather irritating, but hey it's their place...but is is kind of odd to staring at a classic car and listening to electronica and trance music...
It was wonderful finally meeting you sweetie. Bummer the party got broken up by the rain. Jozette and I headed home via Woodward but teh rain had scared away most of the cruisers there as well. We stopped for an ice cream and made the best of the rest of the evening. L2R Plym-46, HotRodLadyCrusr and Don Coyote (sp?) My girlfriend Jozeete on the left with the boys I'm glad you enjoyed Memphis Smoke on Saturday night. We went to the Red Coat Tavern just a couple of doors down from the Shell Station, did alittle cruzn, then parked Big Olds for a couple of hours. Must have been when you saw him in the Shell Then went and parked in another area for bit while everyone who was going to race gathered up. My pal Nix66 here on the HAMB took this photo on Saturday night and the photo above. Very talented photographer. Looking forward to our paths crossing again real soon.
As promised earlier, here's a few pix from the Plymouth Owner's Meet at the Centerpoint Marriot, which is only a few hundred yards off of Woodward if you're coming to 'The D' on business or pleasure... I hope you like the pix-Enjoy!!
Wow... great shots Weaverville and big "How YA doin'?" to Jozette and a HUGE "HELLO!!" to Denise! Hawt women, sweet cars... sensory overload!
I don't know much of anything about the techniques of artful photography, but those shots are amazing! A lot of folks will compliment paintings as looking like photographs, but the pictures above have enough adaptive lighting and effects to look like paintings. I am blown away. The lighting that's playing off the big olds is pretty unbelievable. Thanks for sharing. Glad I checked in before I turned in for the night...
Thanks for the kind words 1LOWCHIEF....nice Pontiac you got there... Lompoc, huh? I love that town...I used to live in Pasadena,CA and I loved to run up the 101 and PCH 1 and stop at Tom's Restaurant on College Ave. (home of the Educated Burger I think their motto is) and grab a burger amongst all the fine folks from Vandenburg and the local Lompoc folks... I love all the fields around Lompoc filled with flowers, strawberries, orchids, daisies and bulbs...Looking at a 400+ acre field filled with roses, orchids, marigolds etc is quite a site and makes for some fantastic cruising roads-I'm envious and wistful all at the same time!! For those that don't know, the area around Lompoc, CA is one of the world's largest farming areas for growing bulbs to raise flowers from...so the fields around Lompoc are just carpeted with beautiful flowers for miles around...it's an amazing site !! (and an amazing smell too) I do miss it so...You live in a little slice of heaven!! All the best-W.S.
Thanks for the kind words....I really ain't that good with a camera, I just know how to 'cheat' in Photoshop... As for Nix66 pix of Denise's Olds...there are super-nice ain't they ?!?! He obviously knows a lot about photography, lighting, exposure times etc...stuff I just cheat in P-Shop... Thanks again-W.S.
Sounds like you've seen Lompoc in it's "heyday"! While it's not bad now, some of the flower fields have been sacrificed for housing. Typical California housing B00m! BTW, Tom's is still around, and yes they are still "home of the educated hamburger", serving an A to Z burger! I typically go with the "I", but that's basically a bacon burger.
Wow!! Nuthin like shootin some poor little orphans!! The MoPar stuff is really cool.. But the two shots of Big Olds are spectacular, Momma has trained that big boy to smile on cue!! Thanks Bro.!!-Sololobo
