I've been dreading the day I had to go through and sort out all the corroded out wires, but the time has come. I'm going through it either way, but it would help a whole lot if someone had a wiring diagram for a 1958 Delray. Hope someone out there does. Thanks in advance, El Rey
i feel your pain man, i literaly JUST finished compleatly rewiring my Del Ray, this site helped a lot. http://www.tocmp.com/tOCMP/wiring/5765wiring diagrams/Chevrolet/MWireChev58_3WD-058.jpg hope it helps you too.
ive found the easiest amd cheapest way to wire an old car is to trash ALL the old wiring, take no notes, and redo it like a VW one device at a time.
Thanks yall. Still debating if its a good idea to start from scratch or try and replicate the old boys.
Get a pair of ****s. If you see wires, cut them off and put them in the trash. I'm not kidding. I've done a truck and a couple of cars now, and the pain of working with 50 years of **** and modifications is about 10 times just replacing it. Don't buy the $600 Painless getup if you don't need it. Figure how many circuits you need (electric windows, seats, air conditioning, 60 amp stereo, whatever), and then buy the size that works for you. Maybe go 2 circuits higher for expansion. Start with the positive battery cable to the starter. It should have no other wires at the battery. The other wires go down by the starter. If I'm real lazy it will take me 3 weeks, if I'm on fire, it will take me a week. It's tedious and kind of boring, but spend some time thinking it through how you want the wires to go. It's also a thankless job. No one ever see's it if you do it right. I like an engine compartment where the only wires you see are the spark plug wires.
