Hey all you door slammers and bottom bangers. I just got a new ride and I am looking for some like minded drivers to help and ask for help. I am an interior guy from Michigan Detroit and Suburbia area. What I believe: 1.The use of fibergl*** belongs on boats 2.Fosse and Coddington are Cl***less. 3.Hot rods are for hanging it out in not for hugging. 4.Only fruit comes in a "Crate" 5.Junkyards are the best parts stores. 6.Primer is a paint color 7.Half bald biased are racing slicks. 8.Custom rims means I painted them myself (polishing is for biscut hub caps) 9. Because I am a trim guy, If you want seats they better have springs Just got a "new" rod and I want to bring it back right. Since it has a vintage engine in it and I want to keep it that way I need help. I am new to Caddy motors and I have been told you guys on here are the best I need to ask for your help
I dont know who "Fosse" is, but what kind of "new" rod did you get? What kind of "Vintage" engine does it have? Nick
[ QUOTE ] Just got a "new" rod and I want to bring it back right. [/ QUOTE ] Damn! I could sure use a new rod! Welcome.
Nick, I think he means Bob Fosse, the director of Cabaret. He's dead now, but I thought he had a lot of cl***, even though some may have found him a tad on the 'fruity' side.
Hey guys thanks for the reply!! All my picks are too big but I will make em smaller next time. It is a 1950 shoebox All steel no puddy. It has a Caddy in it that the guy who sold it to me couldnt tell me the CID. It looks to be a 1955 or better Caddy. 365 or 390 but I have no idea where the Vin number is on the block. I have a dual 4 that came on it but I cant tell if it is an OEM or a aftermarket. The distributor is in the front and it has trapaziodal valve covers
'Trapaziodal', is that like a flattened cu***ber shape? If you mean they're narrower on the top, then it's a later model Caddy like a 472 or 500 inch motor.
Yup, that's a late model, it's ain't a '55. It's a strong *** ***** of a motor though, and you can get hop up parts for them. I think it's a 472, I could be wrong.
Hey nads, your making me happy and sad at the same time! was hoping it was an oldy but the big block doesnt hurt my feelings. Where are the casting numbers. The banks are full of custom (about 20 peices of pipe welded together) And I dont know where the number would be. Can ya help me?
Welcome to the HAMB!! I like PUDDY!! That big caddy is really gonna push that shoebox!! What ******,and rear?? Good luck, Glenn
Hey there!! Springhill, you in the Saturn orbit?? Sorry to say Still guessing the trans. But the rear end is a 9 inch with anchored traction bars. I would have know Idea, learn as ya go is my motto right now. I really need to find the engine CID first and then I was going from there I guess. I am an old AMC, Ramble guy just getting into GM gear. Had a SCrambler and a rebel machine. Then a Kamback "gremlin" with a 401 cop mill in it. Old steel 30,32,34 fords with Flatties. I can help with all of those. This is a new deal for me.
No but it is a nice job. I dont want to bang my own drum but, if I dont who will?? I can do some amazing stuff though. Always looking for another parts so always looking for another job. Have alot of references, and you see my work in dealerships everyday.
Hey no worries, man. Nascar isnt the only guys that put wear plates to keep the nose from coming off!!. I love the sparks man. When they come down hard after launch and bang the girls go wild!!!
Hey no problem. I still dont know how to use it yet. But still looking for info on the motor. But maybe I can call some hottie later on when I know what to do with it. No matter what you are safe
Welcome from another Michigander. This is a cool place with a lot of info. See, you're new and you've already found out what size and year motor ya got. These guys know their sh*t. You'll be invited to breakfast real soon....ain't that right *****es?
WElcome to the HAMB. I have a funny feeling there aren't too many cars in dealerships with springs in the seats now is there SO how about some pics of some Rolls and pleats. There's always a need for good trim guys in this hobby. Do you get over to the East side much. If you do look me up.
Hey Michiganders, Thanks for the hello. I have albums of books but nothing scanned. Rolled and Pleats are simple how many ya want! Get all over since I trim to pay for my habit. Wife cant understand why a rad is 300 bucks but a bar stool now thats another story. Be glad to have a cup of joe and a side with any Michigan guy. As for the engine over 400 heah. Well aint that a kick in the teeth. I was happy if it was a 331. How can I tell for sure. Where exactly is the stamping?? With the headers in there I really have to know cause it is a ***** to get up in there
