I'm in Pittsburgh, PA for a few days. Are there any Hot Rod landmarks, shops or other spots that I would want to check out?
    Thanks,
    Mike

if you are south of town go to fri cruise at mineral beach on rt-88 near
    finleyville and tra** farms

go to carcruises.com if you get to a computer or go to local library to use one.

    lots of luck.

No real hot rod spots, but stumbling from bar to bar on Carson Street (southside) is good for hours of fun.

Having grown up just down the road near McKees Rocks, that is how I spent most of my wasted years in my early 20's! :D

Oh... and 31whitey... Something about that town just makes you WANT to drink beers and start breaking ****...

My family is originally from the Bugettstown/Canonsburg area. In fact, my dad's cousin owned a Buick dealership in McDonald until the 1970s. He worked summers there from '59 - '65 and remembers doing part runs to another dealership by the name of Yenko Chevrolet. Got to know most of those guys well, but missed the Camaro and Nova upgrades by a couple of years.

I went to Pitt and definitely learned how to drink in that city....still not sure how I got out of there with a degree. I still spend a lot of time up there.

Yeah, and probably as many as 15 or 20 Hamb friendly cars ****tered throughout. If you like PT cruisers and new Corvettes, it's a must see.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying here, you don't make it very clear, but just in case, hellrazor, if you do go, stay away from Kensey (unless you're into that kind of thing, "not that there's anything wrong with that.")

now that's hitting a little close to home..lmao
my Mom was Gene Povero's Secretary in those days till my Dad bought a new Buick in '59,they were married in '60 and I was born in '61.
we owned the Greenhouse's that shared the driveway with the Buick dealer..its gone now but always used to sneak up there as a kid to see the new cars when they came out.
those were the good old days..thx for the memory,

a hand job is a name like douche bag for instance

The guys at the church cruise driving PT cruisers are a bunch of hand jobs.

Other than the church cruise there isn't a lot going on if your were here during the labor day weekend our car club is having a big cruise and show at our garage.

Pitt-Johnstown Alumni here. Graduated in Dec 1993. Spent a lot of money on those cl***es! LOL

I am from Sheraden (in the city, near McKees Rocks), and my wife from Bethel Park. Families are still there, so we get back to that end of the state every 6-8 weeks or so.

Find a Primanti Brothers while in town and grab a sandwich. The perfect food after a night of drinking in the the southside. :D

GaryM... that stuff is too funny! I'm originally from Central PA (State College area). Everybody here in SC thinks I talk funny... they need to go to the 'Burg or Philly! Where in SC you located? I'm in Barnwell.

I spent 5 days in Pittsburgh this week and ended up working 85 hours. So, needless to say, I didn't do much else besides work. I slammed down some Iron City Beer and ate a different Primanti Bros sandwich every night. Good thing they're open late!! Damn those are good. Maybe next time I'll have a few extra minutes on my hands... yeah right.

Glad you enjoyed the primanti bros. I always try and find a good excuse to drop in and grab one when I am back in western PA. :)

My dad is part of the 60 yr old crowd, and it seems like he finds a cruise somewhere in town nearly everynight of the week. He drives a non-HAMB-friendly '70 Chevelle convertible (Black w/ red interior), and also has a '70 nova painted 1965 GM Evening Orchid.
