Well, from all accounts Midnight M*** was enjoyed by all. We had about 450 registered vehicles and, according to Cal Expo, around 5,000 spectators. That figure was based on their parking tickets X 2.47 people/car. The crowd was great with only a few little minor problems. The vendors liked the fact that they had equal access to the crowd, but thought it was too long of a walk from one end to the other. The dust was a major concern for a lot of them, getting their product dirty. Also light was not quite enough for some on the very ends. The good news is that we are welcomed back there next year, so we can do some things to make it better for everyone. The bad news is that the hotel does not want us back. Seems as though they thought we were too loud, couldn't seem to find the trash cans, and destroyed some property. Someone or somebodies used a magic marker to write all over the hallways of one of the hotels. So, easy access to a hotel will not be available for next year. We're deciding on whether or not to even have an afterparty and where. Stay tuned for changes next but at the same place. If anybody has any positive feedback on how to improve the show, chime in. Thanks again for coming and see you next year.
Yeah, no kidding. What sort of dumb**** do you have to be to write on the walls & Why does there always have to be one to ruin a good thing? Throughout my life I can look back on so many great things that we USED to be able to do, and all those things got shut down because of clueless ****s like that.
thats a bummer because i really liked the hotel.the staff was nice and the room was great.its too bad that some people have no ****ing respect for anything or anyone for that matter!most likely it was a spectator who isnt a car person because i dont believe that anyone with a car there would have done something that stupid.hey maybe if its not labled an after party next year those idiots will go home after the show!?we can only hope.....
how about going back to the industrial park or sac vin ford. those were fun. now its just a bunch of lame ****..
spread the porta pottys out a little. Maybe put some up front as well as in the middle. The built in restrooms could handle the end. maybe flip the vendors to the other side by the sidewalk. The food vendors were good I didn't wait to long for my food. Might try getting another one or two for more variety. As for lighting you could check out renting some light towwers from a rental yard, they also have generators that some vendors could use to help light there areas better.
You could make amends with the hotel by Repainting the hallway walls pick up the trash and replace whatever Got broken
Could you expand alittle? I think Bruce is asking for opinions, but maybe a suggestion on how it could be better...... I agree with the suggestions above. More/ spread out blue rooms... By the amount of people I saw ******* up on the hill it may be a problem for getting invited back if it gets worse.
It was quiet at the CalExpo RV Park... The only issue I had was,it was FREAKIN' Hot the day of the show!
I've been to every show and liked them all. You might consider a little better stage lighting for the pin up show. All the gals looked good, but you couldn't see them very well because of the poor stage lighting.
i guess things dont change from the west to the east sides, to bad for that idiot that screwed it all up for ya for next year, but maybe the hotel might change their mind after a few months of letting it go by the wayside
The hotel MAY be persuaded to let us come back but if so, I'm positive there will be no after-party. We'll just send the party go'ers to the closest bar. The place has already been repainted and cleaned up, time will tell. As far as the show site: The reason for having all the vendors on the west side of the parking lot was two fold. 1. so that their back was to the sun as it set, 2. so they could park right behind their booth and not have to lug their stuff. I guess we'll reconfigure the layout for them next year. We'll definately have more blue rooms and food variety. From the looks of the parking lot afterwards, we'll also ask for more garbage cans. Lighting and electricity is a real issue. We rented 5 light towers for the show, 4,000 watts each. I was told that each one was enough to light up 5 acres, which seemed like more than enough. The problem, as we found out, is that they are up so high that they actually create shadows on the vendors booth from their canopy's. Same with the stage, from the waste up all the girls were in shadow. vendors may have to supply their own generators for lights. We can only rent so many generators without digging into our own pockets. We don't make much money from doing this and we gave a bunch of it away this year. We're working on some ideas but your input helps.
as far as the light towers go you don't have to run them with the mast fully extended, so you would be able to bring the light down for less shadows. I know the genie light towers have 2 110 volt recepticals for power. With the generators I would look into getting 1 or 2 big ones (multi quip makes some really quit ones) and run temp boxes behind the vendor booths. each box has around 7 110v recepticales and 1 220v receptical. then maybe offset some of the cost with booth fees.
We experienced the same thing at the Hilton with Lead East. I shouldn't say we, I get to go and enjoy the show .. Terry Cook gets to deal with the head-aches. But ***umably the kids were tearing the hotle a new look, and not a good remodel! So the policy is now, ALL are warned that if anyone younge or old caught will be asked to leave and WILL NEVER be aloud back in to future shows. Most the kids are great, they actually are into it, but there are a few who don't want to be there, but mom and dad do, so they get into mischief. With the NEVER WELCOME back, the parents keep a closer eye on the little brats.
i quess there is no way to find the scribe or yall would have had his *** already , its ****ed up that someone would ruin a good thing for yall .. hope you folks can work something out for the future of your show..
