Apparently made for Showtime in 1994, Directed by Robert Rodriguez (Grindhouse, Sin City, El Mariachi) and at the very end something about "Drive In Productions" which it definitely is.

More a kind of 50's rebel movie, but does have some mid 50's Buick Convertible (flatblack w/ baby moons) vs. second gen. Thunderbird action as far as the cars go.

    Highlights:
Salma Hayek (always thrillin' in my book)
Roller Rink Rumble to Hasil Adkins' "No More Hotdogs"
Bowhead w/ her hair on fire riding on the back of the T-bird
Great 50's-era Psycho-billy Soundtrack ("The Scream" "The Shadow" "Race W/ The Devil")
"Invasion of the Body******ers" ongoing theme
    Stoopit nihilism

    Lowlights:
David Arquette as "Dude" looks about thirty (but he sure can smoke).
    Long-haired bad guy pretty anachronistic
Shoot-em-up ending comes out of nowhere.(though the last shots are mighty fine w/Dude driving away all skull and blood).

Overall, it has some real moments, and better than say, "Hollywook Knights" and probably "Streets of Fire." It does have a good drive-in feel.

I watched on VCR from I Heart Video here in Austin.

Anybody ever see "Little Fauss and Big Halsey"? My neighbor puts it in the same league as "Vanishing Point" and "Two Lane Blacktop."

    FWIW,

    Joe

I've seen Road Racers I liked it, but like you said Salma is HOT!!! The ending was cheesy but overall I liked it. Good to know I am not the only goofy movie renter.

I dig Road Racers, I bought it. Pulp Fiction type presentation, screamin Link Wray tunes. (RIP) This flick puts every other car movie except 2 Lane Blacktop (the only other serious car movie ever made) in the adolescent section. The early Hot Rod flicks from the 50's and 60's are a gas and fun to watch. Graffitti is a cl***ic, and has to be recognized. Graffitti put Hot Rods back in control after the muscle car era died. Robert Rodriguez is a genius, many collaborations with Tarrantino. This is the Rockabilly version of American Graffitti.

Never heard of it. Is it a remake of the 1959 movie "Road Racers"?

No. All new Rockabilly action with insane music from the period.
