I stopped by a freinds shop yesterday and a guy walks in and says he has an old car in his garage he wants gone. It used to be his grandfathers and after he died it has sat at his place for awhile. He said hes grandfather has replaced alot of wood in the car and was trying to get it back upand running. So i called the guy later in the day...he says" its a 27 2 door. all original, still has drivetrain and the old wooden rims" Bascially wants to trade it for a car for his soon top be 16 year old son to drive. I am probably gonna go by saturday and look at it. Question for you guys, I am not in the market for one as I already have a 32 that I am working on,what would this car be worth? rough value if everything is there and its not rusted to pieces? which I dont think it is talking to the guy. Thanks, Scott
T's are not worth a whole heck of a lot. I would guess if it were a car that was nice enough to ge ruinning and drive it as-is, maybe 2,500-4,000.00 if it's pretty nice. If it sill needs a lot of work, probably less. Again, just a guess.
Decent T's are so damn cheap (the T resto community is old and stingy), the guy will probably be assuming it is worth a lot more than it is. After you know details, condition, and if titled, I think you should collect a whole lot of price examples from Fordbarn T classifieds, Hemmings, and Ebay to show him where the market is. It is much more likely that he has been looking at Barrett Jacksn auctions than the real world for pricing info.
Last year there was an original, unrestored, complete 27 roadster that sold on the bay for $990. The car was rough, but it was all there and had a Texas title. I almost bought it but decided I need to get my kids through school before I take on another project.
Hey, guys, don't beat up on ALL the old T's! Brass t's are worth a lot more than black ones. If you had nice early two lever '09 T it'd bring $100,000, maybe more. There are quite a few T's that are worth $30-$35K, the '09-'12 stuff is real good. Some of the late brass T's can bring money, and even a few of the black body styles command a premium. Now, back to black T's. I know of a mint original black touring car with all factory paint, interior, etc, that sold for $12K a year or so ago. Some folks griped they wish they had heard about it, that was too cheap. The average T is not big bucks, but the idea that a good car that could be driven with little or no effort and look decent for a couple of grand is a dream. It can happen, but that isn't market value. Most of the decent looking drivers sell for $5-$7K. Model T Haven in KS regularly sells project cars with engines that are not stuck for about $2 to $2.5K, but those are mostly really beat old dogs with little or no wood, mismatched parts, etc. http://www.modelthaven.com/ Good luck with it, stock or modified T's are a lot of fun.
Is there anything in paticular that I should look for that would make this car worth something more than a grand? drivetrain?? interior? I`m guessing, after talking with him...this would make a better Rat than a restore...but I dunno.
I guess there should also be a BAN on Idiots like you that have nothing better to do but run the post count up!! Give me a break....... I fiqured this would be a good place to get some good info on what the car is worth,,,,,,,and IF someone here wanted a car like this I could turn you on to him...THATS ALL!! Like i said in my first post mr grumpy....I dont want or need the car Go have a beer and chill
it's really hard to say what any car is worth with out some pictures or a least accurate description of it's condition. there are requests like this on here all the time ,they end up with no real answer ...i understand you just wanted some input , but i also understand the frustration of what appears to be (at least to me) a wasted post i suggest you get some pictures and some details of the car and i'm sure someone will be willing to help you and just to bust your balls a bit , i also suggest that you , as a new member , not make any suggestions as to who should be posting here... especially if they are a long time member who has posted on many interesting threads in the past welcome to the hamb
yall have a great way of making ppl feel welcome around here.....thanks for the help and have a great day
Every body here ain't a asshole,,some just act that way,, Truth is,,without photos we can't be much help, but if it is a 27 tudor sedan,,and in good shape around my area of the country 2,500 to 3,000. HRP
I kinda fiqured that..I have met a couple guys up in Taylor Tx that post here on a regular basis and they are cool as hell I have been out of rodding/classic cars for about 12 years. I was told about this forum from a friend. I fiqured someone would know an appprox value by the description I posted. Saturday afternoon Im goingto meet up with the guy and look over the car. If it turns out to be a good find I will let yall know. Thanks for the advice. Scott
The only wood in a 27 Tudor is in the roof, and in the back of the rear seat and the front floorboards. If you have some pix or a better description would really help. We have done T restorations for the last 10 years. Would be more than happy to give you an idea as we are still active in the T resto community. JS
I am amazed by the idiots that see a "What's it worth" post, open it, read it, and then complain about it being a waste of time. Why not just skip it if you don't want to play? More fun to bitch I guess
The true '27 wire wheels/hubs are good pieces. If nice, they'd bring $800-$1,000 from the right person. I saw a complete chassis that someone pulled the body off of for a rod, nice shape and allegedly running, looked restored, sell for $1,000. The buyer is supposed to have turned down $2,500 for that rolling chassis while still at the meet. '27's are not terribly common as far as T's go. But what if it's junk? Mismatched? No Pics, No Data, No Good.
We need a picture to give an accurate opinion. Are you sure it is a '27 T? Not much wood to replace in one, top bows and floorboards are the only wood, a 1925 and older Tudor is a differant story. $2,500 tops withoutseeing a photo.
Two speed rear, or any accessory will bring up the value, but you'll have to do some reading to know what is what on a T
Hard to say but If you could trade him a 800 dollar honda for his son do it . Parts values are always changing Doors 300 ea if good 150 up if shitty Body 600 to 1000 depending on how nice style if its a coupe the rear lid is 250 to 400 windshield is 150 to 300 rad shell 75 bucks Ruxel rear end 1000.00 to 1300.00 Old t freaks had to have a ruxel so u never know 21 IN Wires and hubs like stated above 1000 + Frame engine frontend non ruxel rear not worth much but could be the making of a neat speedster .
HAMBer "Elmo Rodge" just bought a nice driver '26 Tudor in New Mexico. Once you have pix, you might PM him for an opinion about value.
