Does anybody know of a machine shop in the metro-Atlanta area (or at least in a neighboring state :)) that can adequately perform the machine work on a flathead block?

Its kind of depressing to see that there are really so few shops that can do good work on a flathead. I talked to several shops close to my home and they said they have never worked on a flathead, but that they "believe" they can do it. I like a lil more ***urance than "believe". I am definitely gonna check out the Mills shop.

The Mills shop in Marietta is only about an hour from me, but put any info up. Maybe someone in Kansas has had as much trouble finding a machine shop that knows flatheads as much as me.

Do you happen to have contact info for any of these guys, or what the names of their shops are?

My dad did business with them for years, but when I tried to get in touch with them, the number was disconnected. I have been told they went out of business.

The best (no offence) shop in the south is Cardens Machine in Sargent. I will dig up their number and shoot you a PM. BTW they do all the remanufactured engines for Mike's A-fordable Parts.

Do you have a number for him? If nothing else, I am sure my dad would like to talk to him.

I build flatheads here in the Greater Detroit area. I have six going at the same time at the moment. I own Brothers Custom Automotive in Clawson. If you need a hand or have any questions, I'd be happy to help you out. Ever since Motor City Flathead stopped re-building old engines, Mark Kirby has been referring some of his inquires to me. I think I'm one of the only places around that specializes in flatheads. If you are heading to the Hunnert, I could build yo a short block or a long block... there is plenty of time.
