Man this is a tough crowd to please.

I am 65, been there done that got all the T-shirts. I was there in the late 50's driving 49 fords with painted whitewalls. I was there in the early 60's driving lowered 60 buicks with lake pipes. You are correct, the girls never dressed like that, the guys never dressed like that. The cars didn't look like that. So lets piss on 'em all, right?

Wrong,,,when I was doing that thing back then my elders thought I was disrupting the course of the universe. We were the posers, the exageraters of an earlier time. But we, as the kids do now, imitate by exageration. Kids want to be cool, no matter what course they take to get there. This new culture, no matter how extreme or distastful to you is just another generation trying to be what we were but, of course, not really getting the point.

The pics that are posted are of kids doing their thing, not ours. Let them have their thing and so what if it pokes a little fun at our old thing. Some of you are so worried and uptight about being real that you forgot how fun it was to be unreal.

Dang, interesting and powerful point. I thought my writing earlier was the truth of thruths, but I need to be careful. I still have the temptation to "piss on them" because I figured this site was a traditionalist's forum. Whether true or not, I guess we shouldn't mock another person's interest or new wave. Again, very interesting point.

Hey man I am new and not sure what type forum this is,,I see all types of cars here from rat rods to super slick dollar types. So what does the type of forum have to do with it anyway?

  19. Most pin ups are based from the 1940s. I agree with your statements 100%. Like I said before, they are doing their thing and living the life of cars just like we are. I have no ink but appreciate people that want to ink their body if they want to. Who am I to say what they should do or shouldnt do. I'd rather have a girl that is 100% into these cars as much as I am, than some girl that is a 10 and high maintanance and think cars are a waste of time. My wife is into cars and supports my hobby 100% so that makes her a 10 in my book. Another thing is why do the girls get h***led with how they dress but the guys dont? I'm 47 and dig their style just because its their gig and they live it every day! Its not for me but I still can appreciate it, thats why I took the pictures. If you dont like it, screw you and skip my posts.

I dig the cars....love the girls....dig the style....I'm 58 yrs old, and have been into rods and customs all my life...I've seen many trends come and go, and this scene that's happening now (IMHO), is the most fun yet....It's so cool that the younger guys and girls are livin' this life, and will carry the hot rod torch with big style....we all gotta realize that our hobby is all for fun, and maybe we otta lighten up a bit and roll with it....My only regret is that I can't pull off the big Elvis hair any more, or I'd be chasin' those fabulous hot rod sweethearts around myself.....their greatest beauty is in their happy disposition, and their love for old cars and greasers.....we're lucky to have them........

Very well said - I just can't understand all the hostility. I can understand how many would feel that culture gets in the way of art (specifically, the art of the traditional hot rod or custom) however are they really at odds with one another? What is wrong with girls getting into the pin-up thing (or their interpretation of it)?

I can only speak for myself, but I feel it brings more energy to car shows, for example Viva Las Vegas or Primer Nats. Bring on the rockabilly and chicks in vintage dresses! Thanks to the Rabid Whipet for the pics of the show, might have to drive up the coast to attend next year!

Yeah, I'm really into the idea. great excuse for a hot rod road trip, and since I am from the Northwest (Seattle) it would be coming back home. Haven't been for a few years, and I'm over due. If I could get a few of my club bros to convoy up as well, it would be a freakin' blast. I know this show kicks *** every year! Where there is a will, there's a way, right?

Glad to see there is such a hard core traditional group up there - you guys have it going on.

  26. Yes we do and we now also have Billetproof. I liked Hotrodarama better and its closer. Also the Bar serves nice cold beer for cheap.
