Have you looked at Sanderson Headers? They come in all kinds of finishes, maybe one could work for you. I have never seen chromed rams horns, they might exist???

the owner of these did all the prep and had them jet coated. said it was alot of work to get them smoothed out. how well does cast iron chrome? i think speedway has the stainless ram horns they look pretty good polished but will probably yellow with the heat like every other stainless header.

I had a set in my hands last week. They were old but unused. 1 5/8 tubes, block hugger. Is that what you're looking for? or am I screwed up? If thats what you are looking for, let me know and I'll link you up with the owner.

Prepping them for chrome is a simple but tedious task of grinding and sanding them down to a smooth finished surface. First you grind off the casting seam and any part numbers and such, then you sand them until they are smooth enough to look good chromed, trying not to 'dig in' anywhere while grinding or sanding as this will give a rippled look when chromed, much like wavy bosy work.

They are being reproduced in stainless, that is the route I would go if I had it to do over.

thanks for the replys............yea i know Speedway has the stainless polished Rams, i got a set of the plain cast on my 31 Coupe, was trying to stay more "faithfull" with the original ram headers

  9. George Poteet's `32 sedan delivery has Speedway polished stainless ram horns on it. i noticed at the nationals in Louisville that they had a slight brownish/yellowish tint to them with 88 miles on the odometer

if you want to stick with original ram horns , i really think you would be better off HPC / Jet Hot/ ceramic coating them. chrome will go to **** on you fast , while the coating will last a long time. i have seen chrome ram horns and they all look bad after a few years

on my `28 tudor i spent about 10 hours each prepping them coating..and it shows. they still look great after 13 years

on my `36 i spent about 2 hours each prepping them for coating,,,and that shows too!! they look nice , i wish i had spent just a bit more time on them before coating. the coating still looks fine after 2-3 years

    just my opinion

I ground on the set on my 32 3W for 6 to 8 hours ...each

I think they look pretty nice. I had them coated ... :)

I ground on the set on my 32 roadster for 3 or 4 hours total ... and they do not look anywhere as nice ... but the coating has held up great for 5 or 6 years ...

The Corvette ones are the way to go. Speedway repops don't look anything like the originals. Ceramic coating is better than chrome for durability and insulation.
