First post flathead 32 roadster project

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kustom Linez, Aug 11, 2008.

  1. Hi guys the names Ryan Ford, i am building up this 32 roadster which
i scored off my old man. he purchased the car in 1970 for $50 it was then
pulled to pieces and put in the barn roof. it took a few months to find
all the bit's, including those that were under 4 inches of sheep ****
under the sheering shed. it's got a '39 engine, trans, diff & '39 brakes.
i'm just in the process of changing the aftermarket 4" dropped axel with
an old chrome stock item & installing an A model front cross member.

also a couple of pics of a tank i'm painting up. well thanks for having a
look, and look forward to contributing were i can.
    cheers Ryan Ford

That is quite a roadster. The steering would be difficult for me, but I would adapt.
Keep us posted. Nice painting on the tank.

Neat stuff! Projects like these are always a welcome sight. Keep us posted.

The RH throttle linkage is interesting. Is that an original part?

    Thanks,

    Neal

When can we expect "Chopped" #2?

    Beautiful project!

Seriously, it seems like there is more virgin-barn-finds 'Down-under than left Stateside. Your post reads like an urban legend from my point of view. Does your Uncle also have treasures like this tucked away? Wow...

Holy **** that's awesome!!!! Perfect car and the blown flathead is so fitting seeing how Tom Cobbs' name is relevant thanks to the Jalopy Journal. I love that thing, it's perfect.

  21. i might just have to show you guys what else is in the barn some time. when people where dumping early ford parts my old man was picking them up.
    you'll love the junk yard!

  22. Ryan that is gonna be some roadster man.....keep us upadated with the progress pix dude !!

Dunno about that blown Flathead thogh ....lmao !!

    Rat

  23. That roadster looks bad ***!

  24. Awesome Ryan, I'm sure this will look killer when done. Especially considering the parts stash you have access too!! Have spent some time in and around Newstead, due to my old man spending his younger years growing up with Rodney Tunn and us going up there numerous times. Don't know how many times those two dissapeared on a Sunday arvo especially if they ran into your old man down the street...

My old man is in Chewton now. Has a Cusso and Rodney's old 28 A pickup he built.
Anyway welcome and hoping to make it to the show.

  25. I personally dont want to see the junkyard! That car alone is enough to make most people green with envy.

Nice car, Welcome to the HAMB. Is it the camera angle or is the deck lid bigger than other '32's? Is it an Australian built body. Good luck with the project!

the deck lid, all rear sheet metal & the cowl were imported from what i can tell they are the same as the American items. the doors have a timber frame & the floor has timber frame with steel from your feet back.
    cheers
