Has anyone seen pictures of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars...hash=item260263797444&_trksid=p3756.m14.l1308
It could have been neat (still could be) but there are some way screwed up proportions on that car. The rear bumper shouldn't have guards on it, they're way too close together, and the rear wheels are too close to the back bumper. Plus there is no wheelwell on the body sides, nor is there the "dip" in the beltline that would help pull off the look. The windshield is awkward (so vertical, doen't meld well with the 50's body) and I'm not fond of the fake painted on side trim either. I expect to see a lot more of these narrowed-up later model bodies becoming open roadsters in the future as the supply of OG sheetmetal continues to dry up. But the formula just isn't there quite yet, a lot of details that will need to be in place to pull off the look.
In the last week there were 3 of these things on ebay, 2 57's and that 55. Makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a fork.
Certainly less than (the) some[sum] of it's parts! This is what happens when the scene becomes trendy, fools without a clue.
This just goes to show that not everything can be duplicated. Just because Plowboy can get away with altering full bodied cars into one off show pieces does not mean that everyone can.
it looks like a flat slab of steel with 55 style paint then some 55 tail lights. he just used to much 55 stuff, bumpers are to big and those overrides are wrong...
It can be done right, and since it's easier to find rotty '55 Chevy tin than real A tin... A guy did a '58 Edsel this way maybe 10 years ago now and it came out nice. There are some other cars this look would lend itself to pretty easily, but a 5-6-7 Chevy isn't really one.
Some people can fu*k-up a two car funeral. ____________________________________________________________________ Like I told the kid, "Your music not too loud, it just sucks!"
Mmmm, Construction ability and taste/design sense don't necessarily come in the same package. Just goes to show, you can polish a turd. Pete
Fortunatly glare from the sun obscures some of the finer details of this beautiful venicle. To think someone from my home state thought up this POS and actually thinks it's cool.
