hooking up batteries in series

    im installing two optima 6v battries my my friends cadillac and wireing them in series to make twelve volts. was just wondering if the cranking amps will change or stay at 1000. feel stupid havin to ask this being an electrician and all, but i never had do deel with d/c as an electeician.

    I am pretty sure the cranking amps will stay at 1000. But what do I know, I am an electrician too.

    They will stay the same(well, technically, you'll lose a few because of the extra cable required, but that's so negligible it's barley woirth mentioning).

    guess the "skinny" 3EE battery didn't work too good? Optima battery won't let you down. Worth the extra money!

    FYI, There may be a issue in the future where the batteries may not stay at 6 V/ 6V. you may end up with an imbalance in the future say 8V/4V for each. Are you doing this because you had the batteries, or were you expecting to use the 6V tap also?
