Frame Interchange

No, this isn't the typical "will an S-10 frame fit my...." question. Does anyone know what year frames will fit a '48 Chevy Fleetline besides the '46-'48? I've heard panels will fit, but is the frame the same outside of that narrow range, like '49-'51, or anything else? I'm looking for a frame for my '48, and I've had contacts about a '51 frame, but I don't know enough to know if it'll work or not.

hmmm....a 51 panel truck frame will probably fit a 48 pickup just fine, but you have a car, not a truck.

The 49-51 sedan delivery frame is just like the 49-51 car frame, so that probably won't help you either.

41-48 car frames should be the same...but I'm not completely sure, since my 59 parts book does not list them that old. The 46 parts book does list 41-46 as being the same, and the 46-48 cars are almost identical, so it should be a safe bet that all of the 41-48 frames are the same.

 

'49-'54 frames are definitely different, so forget about the '51 you found.

 

41 to 48 Chevy car, any model including sedan delivery.
