Was traveling back from trendy San Francisco and while walking thru the airport this morning I spot this Yuppie/ business guy (30 something) wearing brand new jeans, boat shoes, a white t-shirt with black Von Dutch logo and a Sport Jacket... Could not believe it... whats next

So I guess its time to go out and buy yourself a sport jacket to wear with our HAMB shirts if we want to be styling..

Not to change the subject, but which is more expensive? [IMG] A Von Dutch T-shirt,or a West Coast Choppers T-shirt?

  3. I think the O.C. choppers stuff probably tops the pricelists. I heard that Macy's carry's the stuff? What a crock of ****. I must be prematurely aging! [IMG]

If he was wearin' boat shoes he's an East-coaster, not that it matters too much but I have been in meetings with these guys and they'll wear Topsiders even with a suit.... [IMG]

Maybe some of you kids remember Don Henley?
After Eagles, he did a solo album called
Building the Perfect Beast back in the late 80s
    In a song called The Boys of Summer was a put down on the chainers of then;

"Out on the road today, I saw a DEADHEAD sticker on a Cadillac
A little voice Inside my head said, "Don't look back. You can never look back."
I thought I knew what love was
    What did I know?
    Those days are gone forever
I should just let them go but-..."

    http://www.davemcnally.com/Lyrics/DonHenley/BuildingthePerfectBeast/

Don was *****ing about the same watering down and mainstreaming of an underground icon, just like VDO is now. (Or was he just noticing the wider acceptance or growing affluence of the "deadheads??)

    You can never look back.
You can never go back to "How it was in the good old days"

Neo-Nazi bikers put ********s on Levi Strauss jackets...Levi, a Jewish tailor.
We commit genocide on the Mid-West indigenous people and later drive around in trucks named Cheyenne, and cars named Pontiac and Cadillac.

Pontiac put the name Grand Prix on a four door sedan.

To the Capitalists, nothing is sacred except the making of profit.

I took the kids shopping yesterday and we stopped in a place called Hot Topic.Nothing but commericalized punk clothing. It just seemed odd to see clothes I use to ware selling for big bucks to kids who have no idea what a punk was.

The one thing that I never saw a picture of was Von Dutch wearing a Von Dutch shirt.

Heh, I heard a remake of "Boys of Summer" on the radio the other day... the thing that made me chuckle about it is that they changed it to "Black Flag sticker on a Cadillac..."

    Good for them!

There's a pic of Von Dutch wearing a Von Dutch shirt at the '74 Rat Fink Party....He also brushed a few for himself during his lifetime, and okayed the "System Von Dutch" designs that Roth did...
The photo is on p.41 of the "Confessions..." book...
But '74 is a long time ago,a long way from here......

Do yo think after about 20 posts about these shirts, someone will get the idea that they are mainstream?

If DrJ went on TV to expound on the evils of capitolism and he wore a HAMB shirt don't you think everyone would want one?

    Would it change anything?

Or as Germ put it "Who cares?"

DrJ- I love that song! It's been on the radio around here a lot lately.... I can't believe how many people don't remember that song. lol

Seeing all this clothing **** is annoying, but for people like me who want to make a bidniss out this kind of thing, I love seeing the stupidity of millions of trend followers just buying something because they think it'll make them look and feel cool. Viva la insecurity!

Don Henley ROCKS, always has, always will [IMG]

Too bad a ticket for the Eagles upcoming concert here in Detroit is $177.00 a piece. That ****s. I lose alittle respect for said artists when their concerts are priced out of range for their average fan. [IMG]

Today , me and my daughter were out shopping or killin the day .I really didn't get whats the big fuss is on the von dutch line,so we went into a store that sells the stuff .After looking for at the hats ,89.00$ shirts 60.00 was the cheapest , bowling ball bags w/ name on it , no price .The boy stocker and 20 something girl working this store asked if we needed help.I said uuh no i just had to see what all the rage was .I also said funny how nobody who sells this line even knows who Von Dutch is/was.
The guys responce was "what do you mean was " ? "is he dead "?I said yes he died a while ago ,also asked if he knew who he was ? He said some guy who painted stuff ,w/ a puzzeled look about him .I said well when he lived here in az , he stopped me and said wow he lived here ?Long story short ,even the people who sell the hats and bowling bags knew nothing about him .
Upon leaving, i see a young gal w/ one of the hats on her head and exclaimed ooh now this young lady has a hat on she know s what its all about .I asked her so what does this von dutch hat mean ? She said ooh its just a brand name !!Again making my point ...
I wonder when the "hells angels" brand name will come out ?
Guess there was no guy named levi or ford either just a brand name , w/out meaning .This to shall p*** ,i hope.

Don Henley had another great song out of that era:
"....call some place paradise, kiss it good-bye." [IMG]
