When paypal is the only payment option, I create a paypal account to pay (always thru credit card), pay, go in and dis***ociate the credit car from the account, and then delete the account.

That way if there is a problem, I can dispute the CC charge and get them on my side. Many more legal rights with CC charges.

See that's where I may be screwed becaused I just used money out of my Paypal account. Through a credit card I could always take it up with them.

I think most of the people here on the HAMB are OK, however, there have been enough problems that Ryan had to set up a bad seller/buyer thread in the for sale section. So it does happen. It's basically a **** shoot. Try to buy/sell to people who know people here if that's what you want to do. For me, NEVER AGAIN. If I can't walk up to it, touch it, and pay the man, forget it. These parts are getting way to expensive to gamble on and I think the main reason is the slimball speculators that are in it for the money only, as opposed to the hobbists. They're the ones driving the prices out of sight and they never intend on building a car or getting their hands dirty. I've also noticed that alot of items sold on ebay are sold at prices higher than brand new stuff. So be very careful.

I have went through this several times on here but here it is again:

A friend works at paypal , I was told that most customers do not read or understand the user agreement. If they did they would never do business with them. I have read it ,and it scares me.
Buy the way ,the way they make money is the $ that set in your account are being used by them for profit. The more you have in your account ,the longer it stays ,the more they make.
IN MY OPINION,the reason they did not name it EBAY -PAL is when things get bad, when the money being held is not enough to make a profit, they can go bankrupt ,keep everyones money that is in accounts, and still say it's a seperate company from Ebay so there is no recourse.

if all else fails file a dispute with your bank, in my case i used a debit card through paypal and now i am filing the dispute with my bank. They tend to be more on my side then paypal.

  9. If the guy doesn't have the money in his paypal account, you wont get the money back,,,period. Paypal can not go into the guys checking/savings,credit card and get the money for you, they can ONLY touch any money he has in his PAYPAL account. The ONLY way around that is IF you used a credit card to pay for it (and you didn't).

It doesn't hurt to file, but unless he has money in there, you won't get a dime.

I had sold some parts on EBAY, the guy paid with PayPal shipped the parts once paid but before the money was in my bank account the guy contested the charge, got his money back and the parts now I dont ship till the money is safely in my bank account. Live and learn. Also you might want to post the guys info on here so none of your HAMB brothers get screwed by this guy!

    Ebay buying/selling
Don't keep ANY money in your Paypal account.....transfer it into your bank account as soon as you receive it from a sale......When you buy something , what ever money you have in your Paypal account is used FIRST to pay for the item, then the balance is taken out of either your bank account or from your credit card, depending on how you have it set up...Remember you will only get
your money back IF they have a Paypal balance.... best way is to click on to payment options and ALWAYS pay through your credit card....that way you can do a Chargeback if you don't get the item and can't get satisfaction from ebay or Paypal.....ALWAYS check a sellers FEEDBACK on ebay......don't buy from sellers with poor feedback....
P.S. .....Use a different bank account set up only for Paypal and keep the balance LOW...

I got cheesed by a buyer and now paypal is after me for the money. I lost the item and, according to paypal I still owe them $1500. The worst thing was that I had taken the cash out and had it in my hand BEFORE I shipped the item. PAYPAL ****S!!!!!!!

    Selling on ebay...
DON'T accept Paypal on ANY item that you can't afford to lose money on.....make the buyer pay with a Postal Money Order ...if they REALLY want it, they will pay this way.....Don't accept any form of payment except CASH ( "C.I.F".... "CASH IN FIST " ) when the buyer picks the item up in person.....
Remember , when you sell something on ebay....YOU set the rules...not the buyer.

    My other two cents worth

The scam buyers are coming out of the woodwork with all the new changes on eBay/Paypal. Paypal and eBay are now both 100% on the side of buyers. Scam buyers will pay with Paypal, receive the item, file a dispute, get their money back, and keep the item. If you sell on eBay and take Paypal it's only a matter of time before they screw you.
