I have a mate who is rebuilding an Allard here in Sydney. He is after photo's as the body is having to be fully reconstructed and he doesn't have much to go off. He has Googled and I've done a search with varied results. If any one has any photo's at all could they please post them. Thanks in advance!
What year? They were produced from 1936 till 1966... I googled a specific year... maybe that will help?
It does have a flatty but they are using a stock motor. He only told me today that he was building it and I mentioned to him that I had seen one at a restoration shop around 15 years ago in Gosford - this has turned out to be the same car. The one I saw had the sidevalve next to it on the barn floor and it had a dual intake with Allard heads. When I told him this he was a bit blown away. I'll call him and see if he wants to chase the heads. Thanks to everyone who has given photos so far. I'll find out the year.
There's a '48 model body on egay at the moment in Wagga, It's an alloy body , and it's only $1k. When did you move to Sydney ? Cheers Dago.
Thank you for posting the photos, never knew Allard made an enclosed body, bet that ch***is has an open two seater on it now.
Slightly off topic but maybe you guys would like to see the Allard Dragster, the first slingshot ever built in the UK. Built by Sydney Allard himself and built at the factory. Flathead powered naturally! It is now preserved in Lord Montague's Beaulieu motor museum in the South of England. L.P.
Ive done one Allard in my shop (a 1953 K3) and have a second in there now. Here are some pics someone took at Amelai Island when the K3 was auctioned off in 2007. It set a new record for sale that year! (sorry for such large pics- I didnt take them!) http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z13451/Allard_K-3.aspx Here it is in a slide show of when the work was doen if you need to see 'before' pics: http://www.slide.com/r/hBOSOCR_3j83Q8BXpw-YfwZQHuJG8P3Y
my dad had a channelled A roadster with a hopped up allard flathead in it in the mid 70's, id give either the left or right one to have that car right now.
this is at Pebble Beach this weekend. if your friend is serious about restoring his Allard i think it would be well worth his time to attend Goodwood or P.B. or other vintage racecar meets and get a good close look at as many different cars as he can.
Some great photo's there thanks & I don't mind O/T ones, always interesting viewing! My mate is rebuilding it for a customer of his and I have p***ed all of these on to him. Thanks again.
