Hey there ! so whats the deal on shortning a windshield.... everyone acts like its some top secret voodoo ritual or something ??? I mean christ its been done for years , so what is the big deal ! anyone know a shop here in the SF Bay/Norcal area.... I've heard that sandblasting is the way to go ??? I got a 6 year-old replacement windshield for my '65 Olds, and I NEED 3 inches cut from it... any help out here ??? Thanks -SAM
5spoke, Gary told me he cut this windshield just before he sold his Rivi. I wasn't sure if he meant he actually did it or knew someone locally who could. Might want to give him a call. As I recall, all the recent HAMB posts on cutting talk about how to do it yourself, not many referrals to someone in the bay area that does it for a living.
FWIW, my glass guy had to shorten my back glass on my 51 Chevy by only 1/16" to get it to fit in the new seal. He did it by sanding the edge, and just to take that 1/16" off it took him forever. So, sanding seems like it is a long process.

A pressure tank blaster with a small nozzle and some masking material from the local monument shop works great. Use the masking to lay out the shape you want and blast away. Will Vaughan
