Today we hung the trim on the 57 project, 50 ford side trim flipped upside down and swapped side for side.

the body needs a bit of work to get it all straight, but we are going to try to flip the trim right side up, and possibly extend the rear spear.

    i like it,,,

i also think 55 dodge lancer trim would look cool...(never seen one of those with it either)
mounted the same way it appears on a dodge,,
just another idea for you if you arent 100% on the shoebox trim yet,,

Here's how I did my 57 Ford, like curved trim better than
    straight trim on 57's.

the car is going to be mild, it is just about done with the work I have shown. It also has a 58 hood, and will get a tube grill. I will try to post the renderings Jeem did tonight.

I really like that one. I like the dual headlights on it too. Simple and clean, but follows the bodylines too.

ok, here is the trim on "right side up"

I think we are getting closer

we are going to extend it in the rear, and shape the end more like the front.

I am still working on getting that Jeem rendering up.

Personally I think the stock side trim is perfect for '57 Ranchero's-It follows the body lines and is a great break for two toning

here are three of the sketches Jeem did for the car. The first one is the closest to where we are going.

unfortunately, we do not have the stock trim in good shape, and the owner was in favor of removing it. Of the options we had, this seems to work the best.

  18. i dont like it. the trim fights the body lines.

  19. Roger that.
IMHO- You're doing some really nice work there.

...But- there isn't a straight line on that car- except maybe the bottom edge of the door/rocker panel.

--Maybe shorten it up, take back the front edge so that it doesn't interrupt the arc over the front wheelwell.

    +1

Not only does it contradict the curve from the fender, it fights the slow swoop up of the rear quarter where the curve of the circular tail light fades forward.

    Swapping trim is difficult!

With that being said I'll add...
There's not a straight line on those cars anywhere-
(So a solid "blocking line" looks kinda out of place)

If you are set on that trim I think shortening it into the middle of the door and extending it to the very rear of the car would help...?
(have it "catch" some bodylines instead of "blocking" them)

    What taillights are you using???
Last time I was at www.bigmauto.com there was a set of edsel wagon lights in pretty damn good shape....
    :D
