I made it to the local show tonight, here in North Richland Hills Texas. It was our first outing. I parked and walked around to see the sights. I stopped to talk to a nice older gentleman with an original 1931 Model A coupe. We talked for quite some time and he was very informative. He eventually asked me why I was so interested in his Model A. I told him that I have one and it is right over there ...

We walked about 3 rows over so he could see my car. The first thing he saw was the bare metal body. Then the 4.3L V6 and then the Ford 8 inch. He got down on his hands and knees to look under the running boards ... then got up shaking his head and mutterring to himself ... ah, I gotta go. And he walked away.

Good looking car. I can see why he was interested. I bet he had a minor stroke, that is why he had to walk away!

I'm curious as to how the 6 moves in that critter. I've been contemplating ditching the 350 for a 4.3 myself. I know they are awesome motors, and have driven several of them in a full sized truck, but as I said, I'm curious about it in the A.

No surprise, resto dudes are rarely tolerant of Hot Rodders

Youve got a very cool car dont worry about what anybody else thinks. If it was me and I had got that reaction I would have mentioned I was thinking about gas cutting the roof off just to wind him up even more.

He probably was disappointed that yours wasn't as rusty as his under the running boards. Got embarrassed and didn't want to show it, so he walked.

Rude of him not to explain his disappointment.:D

    BTW, nice A bone. 6, 8, or 4, I'll take it anyday.

  17. I feel that way with a most street rods. I understand him, although I like your car. At least he didn't actually say something personal/rude like some folks seem to feel the need to. There are plenty of threads about that.

I really like your ride man

  19. He's really no different from us. We walk past a glass 32 with 20" billets and pastel paint to look at something more Hamb-friendly. At least he did'nt abuse ya!

  20. I have to agree with what was said we rodders go with what we like or more over what we can afford. I kept my mopar mopar couse I wanted to. not becouse I dont like chevys had them for years, its what I had,, but I still get the ya should have , could of had, FTS. due what you like I see a nice user friendly driver that has the look !

why did you strip the paint off? was it that bad? seems like a real nice body on the A you have.

there are lots of people on here have the same attitude as the old guy who looked at your car when it comes to street rods, you shouldnt have been surprised.

  25. perhaps he just needed to change out the depends!!

  26. I'm thinkin' you guys have it all wrong. I betting the guy was disappointed it didn't have a Flatty, Hallibrand QC, dropped V8-60 axle and a set of 16", bent spoke Kelseys with Indy Stones!!!!!

  27. My thoughts also,,,as far a the older guy,is he not entitled to his own opinion? HRP
