There are lots of threads lately about stolen vehicles. I've been working on an idea for a theft alarm for quite awhile and thought I'd throw it out there for comments.

Coded ignition/electrical system. Shock and tilt sensors giving off wireless alarm and/or paging/phone. GPS tracking module. This would not operate off the main vehicle battery so cutting that would not disable the system.

Optional standard horn/emergency siren alarm triggered also.

I know there are standard system set off with shock or tilt sensors which will page and have horn alarm. These are all fairly easy to disable.

Thoughts? Critiques welcome and hoped for.

I think they are good ideas but i personnally would never buy them. Not when I can buy a motion sensor for under 20.00...set it on my floorboard and wait to get out the big gun.
Alarms... if anything. I would install one in my garage not on my car because I am not with my vehicle at those times.

Petejoe - Tell me more about the motion sensor you are referring to. What is it connected to, and what power supply? Is this a stand-alone system of connected to the car alarm? thanks.

Sounds like a great idea..get out there and market it.
Build it and they will come.

The motion sensor (actually a shock sensor) would have to be wired into an existing alarm system connected to the car power. There are existing systems which will page you and are still hooked into car power. They are not $20.

the point of the system I'm thinking about is not for theft from your garage, but when parked at shows, at hotels, out and about in town when you are not standing next to it with your pistol in hand.

    This was on previous posts.

Use a motion detector. They also have pocket size receivers.
    They are cheap too.

I also bought a set at harbor freight that work great.
They have good distance reception. Never tested them but I do know they reach a hotel parking lot to an enclosed hotel room. Wouldn't hurt to put an extra receiver in your trunk to alert the lowlife that a large gun is coming his way.
