Getting an A Bone on the Ground?? and pic

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by redpunk, Jul 13, 2004.

  1. I have been wanting to do a Model A Rod for a long time. Been collecting running gear for awhile. I have the Flattie and ****** and rear end and 35 Ford Wires. I want to get the frame on the ground. I seen a little Coupe at a Local show this weekend. It had a Kool stance. He Z'd the frame and a kick up in the rear. He did no have to Channel the body at all. Im wodering whats the best way to get it on the ground. Heres a couple of pix of the one I saw on Sunday.

  5. You Rock Man, I would go for a Coupe or Pickup too. Coupe would really rule though. Thanks for checking on that frame. I gotta see that other way you were talking about on the frame too..

    Hey Red,
That coupe IS channeled. You can't see the frame under the body. On a stock A you can see the frame.

I looked at that car at BTT50's and something was strange about the front end setup. I think it was the axle that looked like it was dropped pretty severely.

  10. Yeah, the font is really dorpped. I have a pic of it somewhere but cant find it now. Im wondering if the body was chopped before the guy got it. He said he has had it since 1975. Mabey some of that Channeling was already done or somthing. Thats wierd that he said it was not Channeled. He was really animate about that too.

Definitely channeled. If I remember right, that's the car with a skid plate welded to the frame to shield the oil pan. Very cool idea, I thought.

Perhaps the dude confused channeling with sectioning.
You know a cool drop on a front axel is Gremlin spindles. They bolt on a four bolt pattern and you can bracket up for a lower stance.

Maybe he calls it a "body drop"! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

When A's are channeled so low the fender relief doesn't relate to the wheel any more I think they should just be molded away. and yes, that's traditional.

  15. Hey Eyeball, heres a front shot. It was pretty damn low all the way around..Did you find a kool spot for those Wagon sections??
