just thought id share what i was working on.for the rearend in my 56 olds im using a 61 olds with impala auto adjusters and 57 chev wheel cylinders.just thought it might help someone out.i used radirs with 5" backspace, and a 9" wide tire.also had to cut the extra lips off the quarters.car has a 3" drop in the back.just wish i could work on her more.
Nice, I've got the same deal on my 57 chevy delivery. 57 Olds axle, with the self adjusters,15x8 ARE Ansen slots with 0 offset and 28x11.50x15 MT ET Street tire(also9").Only difference is I have the springs moved under/into the frame from way back when. Fits great!
Ok, I'll bite, I've got a '58 and would love to have auto-adjusters. Can I use my stock hardware with them? What year impala are they off of? I ***ume they work on the front AND back?
Yep,front and back.I had new hardware kits laying around for my 63 wagon and used those. A worthwhile upgrade.
check out autozone.com.i ordered the whole setup there. i ordered them for a 62 impala.i hate adjusting brakes.cant use your stock hardware the top springs are different.good luck eric
let me see if I got this straight.. '61 Olds housing, backing plates, shoes and drums '62-'63 Impala adjusters and hardware '57 Chevy cylinders ?
yes but im using 56 backing plates.i cant remember if the later backing plates are the same for cylinder mounting.i think they are.
Oh yea Erdy now I remember why I like 56 Olds. It is all because of you. Thanks for the info. I might need this someday.
