Does the rear axle "float" on the leaf springs, since yer runnin' ladder bars as well?

Thats funny, I was just talking with Royalshifter the other day about how small they are.

  15. The Willys trucks are very small inside. The coupe's are pretty spacious

Not compared to Fords from the same years. The only thing I had to base my opinion off was my old '39 Standard, it was huge compared to the Willys.

  17. There's always gonna be "something" with more space. My point was the Willys coupe has plenty of space, even for someone well over 6 foot. You can move the seat up or back to accomodate almost anyone. But, the Willys trucks are just terrible. PS-less not forget, these were FOUR cylinder cars then.

Great work Kev, looking really good! Whats the history of the bonnet (hood). Looks like its done some track time already. Are you planning to paint the car, or leave it primered?

    wow,

inspirational stuff here Kev.... between you and Royalshifter with the Texiera Willys resto, i'm chokin' back a man-cry here...give me a moment....

it's a beautiful thing man, nice work

  23. A few questions to answer.....

EC....Yes this car is being built for the street. It is already registered with circa '63 black and yellow plates. I won't be a car for long trips however.

DRuss32.....When I am seated properly I am back further than the pic indicates and there is just enough headroom for a roll bar and helmet. In a stock Willys the firewall is about a foot further forward. I like sitting way back there. When I had my other Willys coupe years ago I remember when you were sitting at a light cars would pull up next to you and then they would creep forward trying to see where the driver was. I used a convex side view mirror to eliminate the blind spot.

SinisterCustom....There are no floaters. It has some suspension so I will try it as it is . If I need to free it up I will probably slot the front leaf spring mount and put a little roller in there so the spring will move freely.

Steve 38....There is no known history on the hood. Looks like it once had a bolt on Cal Custom aluminum scoop. Maybe one day I'll spot it in an old picture. This car will run a fresh coat of primer first but I want it to have a custom panel paint job with lettering eventually.

Jeem....That pic is one I got back in the 80's. It was taken years before in Santa Barbara. I don't recognise the car but I sure like it!

Thanks for the kind remarks guys!

A very cool project, I am jealous. I haven't noticed the front suspension you have. I would assume that it is a straight axle? If you try that injection and have questions feel free to ask. Check out the avatar for inspiration.
