In every ordinary car there is a custom screamin to get out , It takes an extra - ordinary person to see and complete it .....

here are some photos of the packard that im chopping for my friend. its a 4 door as well and basically doing the same treatment as yours, with a few details that will be different ...we might use the original rear glass(if it will fit) here are fotos of it right side up and another with it upside down, haven't decided which way will look better. also might try and extent the rear side window an inch or two more, to elongate it a bit. hope you like the picks and i will post more once more work has been done. thanks for this thread it one of my favorites.

alejandro, it's looking good. I tried every way with the rear window as well, just could'nt get it to "feel" right. I hope you can make it work. Look forward to seeing your progress.

8-ball, it was a pleasure meeting a fellow HAMBER today. Your comments put a smile on my face as well. When you receive praise from certain people, it makes you feel as though the work your doing is worthwhile. Your a comments definately made my day --- Thank You!

Some last updates for a while. Roughed out the body, tossed on some primer and a temporary windshield so I could drive her. Gonna garage it for the winter now and start working on after the first of the year. Plans will be be for glass, paint, interior and bags. Hope you enjoy them!

That's going to look real slick when it's all finished up Old Gold. Do you have any plans for colors yet?

215/75/15's in front and 205/75/15's in rear, both on 15 x 5 1/2" stock rim. Rear suspension has 3" lowering blocks, 2 springs removed and air shocks.

  25. Really looks good! The 4dr-2dr conversion came out great. I've enjoyed following it's transformation...

    QUESTIONS about gaps and flanges!
There are usually seams with a 3/16" gap at the doors and fenders plus the skins are usually folded over about 1/2" at the factory openings.
    Questions:
    1. On the rear of the newly lengthened doors do you or should you allow an extra 1/2" to the end edges of the skins to wrap them over to the back side of the doors to get that factory look?
    2. Where the rear panel is extended forward into the rear door to make it one piece, do you or should you allow a little extra sheet metal at the 3/16 gaps and flatten them out to close the gap for welding a butt joint?
    Peace,
    Chaz

From the pic, he just took a section out 8" or so from the door edge and filled it with another piece, so he didn't have to worry about folding the edges over since they were already done.

That's exactly what I did. I split the door where it was easy to tie in for the "curve" of the door and welded in the amount needed. For the back door, I cut the door to fit tight to the "B" piller to weld. The back of the door I just solid welded to the quarter.
