I found a couple oddball Rat Fink items, not super old, but one of a kind none the less. The Collegeville Halloween Costume Company went out of business a few years back and another dealer friend of mine got in the building and cleaned out whatever he could get. We did an advertising show yesterday and he came up to me as we were setting up and said he has something I WILL want. Comes back with the patterns/color separation films for the last version (1990-91) of the Rat Fink costumes. I made the deal and will have them framed. Kinda weird, but too cool to let go.
You dog! That's a SCORE! I've got one of the costumes in my collection, but the original artwork is beyond words! How do you find this shit, anyway?
Cool score! A few years back on Ebay I picked up the artist's layout for the Rat Fink F/C diecast made by Racing Champions. Turns out after I won the auction I found out the seller was Corey Lee, the driver of the car. He put his John Henry on it and sent me some other goodies to boot. Great guy.
what product manager had that good idea, usually novelty companies wanna copy the latest TV fad and nothing that smacks of nostalgia. why do costume companies always have a cool mask and then use a picture on the front of the costume and not something that looks like the front of the character? anyway that is too cool, I'm workin on my VonDutch costume for this year!
