A Little Spacey, but not too much.

  1. I dunno if you believe in UFO's or not.

I do, but still lots of room for doubt and for chrissake's, why can't some of the witnesses who see them and photograph them come up with some clear and not out of focus photos and some non-wobbly videos.

However, this little piece is partly due to me wondering what holds a UFO together mechanically.
Somewhere along the line there has to be retainment devices that will hold and then release at the right time.

Seems too that UFO's have parts that fail just like any other mechanical device - especially considering so many of them have been falling out of the sky of late.

So, this isn't about UFO's, but rather what science calls OOPARTS.
Standing for "Out of Place Artifacts."

I'm sure you've heard about tools, screws and nails that have been found in seams of coal far underground.
And said coal seams dating back many hundreds of millions of years ago.

Mankind goes a lot further back than modern science will admit to and this is a little bit of that.

The pic shows a stone uncommon to the area - China - where it was found and some think it may have come from outer space.

Perhaps, but the interesting part is the metal threaded cone shaped piece found after the stone was split open for further investigation and analyzation.

The threads have the same pitch all the way down as do common bolts.
It's about 6cm long and the threads have to have been made by an intelligent hand.

If an organism had grown the thread looking grooves, the pitch would be different one from the other.

It strikes me that a conical shaped bolt, with matching nut or threads in the main frame or whatever could be a good device for a modern auto manufacturer.

Granted, a conical bolt and nut combo would have to be very accurately made because you wouldn't get much of a range of hold-down strength and full thread engagement in say, a half turn down.

Used in a non-critical area it could be a time saver.

Then again, tolerance stack would probably render it useless and any time saving costs that would be achieved would be nullified by having to work to very tight tolerances in areas where somewhat sloppy tolerances work fine.

In any event, food for thought.

CNC machines on other worlds must be something else....;)

I've read about that since I was a kid. There's metal pots and tablets been found in coal deposits millions of years old... even a battery!

Lots of weird shit out there, man. I think I even remember a story about a hammer!

    Edit: The London Artifact:

"...a hammer made from an alloy of iron which is very modern in technology, which is encased in "100 million" year old rock (according to geologists) which has formed around it."

    500k year old spark plug:

    100k year old screws:

Lots more out there - I've read a LOT about it over the past 30 years... from the model airplane found in an egyptian tomb, to the "Tomb of the Astronaut". :) LOL!

Not sure how much creed it has, but they exist nonetheless, and are interesting to ponder. :D

Man,I have a hard enough time with straight threaded nuts and bolts. I can't
imagine having to mess with that much taper. Possibly why the corresponding
    nut is missing...

    I too, believe.
(then again, I believe in fanciful unicorns AND the US Government)

Seriously, I love this stuff. C9, you must be in UFO heaven out in Kingman. My folks had a mutual UFO sighting around there on their way to Vegas back in the 70's.

If that THING is not a living organism, some snail-like creature which I believe it could be, as the thread pitch could actually be quite accurate from a natural critter, it could be a drive pin that engages thread at the last bit, used as a "set" device.

With a fuzzy or small enough picture, any story will sound plausible :)

Perhaps Ed Conrad has infiltrated the hamb?

  11. this thread is way past "drinking the bong water!" not long ago i figured out that if their was little green men they would be pissed if they abducted me, their anti-gravity ray would blow a fuse trying to pull my big ass into the ship and then be bummed about the gas milage they got on the way back to their planet.:D

It's well documented rods & kustoms are tied to planetary alignment. When you pay for one there's clearly movement of Uranus.
