Bruce, I love all your cars and trucks. This is just another one to be very proud of.. Very very Nice Rusty
You guys keep knocking home runs out of the park. It's almost a shame to cover that up with a body. When I invent something or become a rock star i'm going to get ya'll to build me one.
Thanks Rusty I think i have a bit of a problem. I got carried away and it is going to be to nice for me unless i can get my wife to clean it for me. I have had more fun in a primered car than i ever had in a painted car. I just got the body on and i am doing the Dyanamat to the inside right now. I don't think i am going to be ready for the Deuce Reunion in Kerrville .Bruce
I think all of the superlatives have been used up but what a beautiful and well detailed chassis that is as functional as it is pretty. The only thing I would change would be to paint the engine including heads to match the reat of the car/chassis. Some how it appears to be a bit unfinished in contrast to the rest of the chassis. But if you run a full hood and don't subscribe to the "I gotta open the hood every time I stop" train of thought it doesn't really matter that much. Besides that if you painted it the other guys would probably kick you out of the ZZ430 in a Deuce club. Enough rattling on, that car is going to be one bunch of fun to drive.
Hey Bruce: Very nice work! Was wondering what type of Model A spring you're running in the rear (original, Posies, etc) - if anything special was done to it? Also, what width (bushing center to bushing center) did you use on your spring hangers? I'm just getting ready to setup a QC in a 34 chassis - wanted to see what numbers others are using when they weld up their spring hangers. I noticed you installed the Model A cross member flush with the top of the frame - this is how I planned to do it on mine.
Very well done. The different from the usual color paint is a nice touch. Full fendered car? Where did the sway bar come from? I understand that you made the mounts etc. Just curious and I don't want to sidetrack the thread, but have you tried the rear end with a panhard bar on some of your other cars?
I can concor with Deuce guy---Wild Turkey---Very nice!!!---Are you going to run your roadster as a hiboy or go full fendered?????-----Don
Thanks for asking. I am using a posies spring with reversed eyes and we did some work on the arch to make it set like i wanted it to, we also left out the leaf next to the main leaf. Now the measurement that you asked about is 45 1/2 center line to center line on the hanger brackets on the rear end. Bruce
C9 Thanks for asking. The roadster will always be a highboy as the frame is pinched in the front so the fenders would not fit. The sway bar is one that I had The Deuce Factory make for me to that width ,and the arms are also The Deuce Factory . Now that they have gone out of business we are going to make our own arms and bars. I have never built a chassis using a panard bar when i use a transverse spring. I have never been able to get the shackles to move right to left using triangled bars so see no need to use one. It should not hurt to use one if you wanted to but it would only get in the way of the exhaust.
Deuce Daddy Don This car will be a highboy. I don't know if you can tell but I split the frame rails in the front and rear, long ways and narrowed them top to bottom to be closer to the diameter of the spreader bars, but I did leave the fender bolts on the body.
For the most part Bruce, but I can't even remember what normal was around here! 3 years later and it still comes up everyday in conversation. I'll have some new pics of the roadster up soon though, if I ever get the doors closing right
Extra nice. _________________________________________________________________ Like I told the kid, "Your music's not too loud, it just sucks!"
