Not H.A.M.B friendly... But H.A.M.B FRIENDS!!!

  1. Nice work....shit car! Regardless of the style of car,the amount of work it takes to win an award like this is staggering! Same as the AMBR award. Too bad that effort doesn't go into a Traditional Rod. And i'll tell you why...cause the Traditional style Hotrods don't have the WOW factor that a car with modern tech.,high dollar paint, and new gadgets has. When a car like that can win over a car like 3wLarry's 32,i'm done with those awards. But it won the most beautiful "Streetrod" award, not most beautiful "Traditional Hotrod" award. So I guess it was deserving, right?

Again, there was no hate. i do not hate the kids building the fart can Honda's but they simply will not go over well here.

It's not what the site is about.

I go to shows and see many cars that people bust their behinds on. Just because I'm not interested in them doesn't mean I hate them.

New cars with modern drivetrains aren't interesting to me unless I'm looking for something for the wife to take to the grocery store. I don't hate the wifes 2008 Dodge Avenger but I'm not going to posts pics of it here either.

This is exactly why I choose to lurk and not reply on here often! There are sooo many off topic posts on this board that go by without so much as a whine from the HAMB Purists crybabies !But when a hamber is involved heavily in the creation of some thing that is obviously a beautifully crafted automobile for A PAYING CUSTOMER shouldn't they get their due props! absolutely! Great job Greggie and the guys at Allways very well deserved! Also to Chris (hip2bsquare) and the crew at Deans where also some outstanding cars are created FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS!

  5. Now where have I heard that before? Oh yea! From me!!! MANY TIMES...
Why post shit on here that doesn't belong, then get pissed when guys complain? Yes they did a great job, on a car that doesn't belong here!
I've built many VW's that were award winners, and had alot of hours in them too. But,you won't see them on here...RANT,lol...

Congrats on the win. I'm sure it will bring in tons of work to the shop.

Now post some more of the cool stuff.

I can dig everything else your saying, but this is the HAMB, not killbillet or something. Most traditional hot rods aren't piles of "of over chopped, over channeled RUST" (with a capital UST), take 3window Larry like Bob said, THEM!, 5wbomber, or Troy down at Hollywood Hotrods. We're not a bunch of rat rodders or something, if that's what you were hinting. Sure, there are a few idiots on here, but even a pile of rust in the right mans hand can become a helluva a car. I'm sorry we like Henry steel (most of us) and not fiberglass or billet wheels. On a completely different note, congratulations.

well thats why i don't post pictures of my car here, I'm on here bccause i like the rods, even though I built my little honda just like the traditional rods are built,i know this isn't the place to post it, so i don't. i do post some pictures of some of the more interesting parts i've done, but not the car, I mean to most of the import guys it's an old obsolete 21 year old engine, but i like it. I've had people tell me they can't believe i don't want fuel injection, but instead i spend two years building a manifold with a couple of 36 year old carbs. other then the make,it's not that much different then what goes into a traditional rod, still i don't put it up on here, I just have never figured out the hate thing, I mean if someone builds a car themselves, and makes all their own stuff from scratch, doesn't that deserve the same respect as anyone elses car? I can understand the hate against the kids with the "wing" cars and the fart cans, most of them couldn't turn a wrench if it had instructions. but not all of us are like that.
and what is the thing with the billet hating? is it against store bought stuff? I mean i have some, but i made it all myself. if someone makes something out of billet and makes it themselves, why hate it? I was just wondering what the deal was with that. sorry to get off topic.

Phoenix based hot rodder Joe Schott along with brother’s Mike and Randy Way of All Ways Hot Rod shop rolled into the Goodguys West Coast Nationals in Pleasanton with their eye on one prize – the Goodguys 2008 America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod presented by Hushpower. Thanks to their stunning blue three- window coupe, they got their wish, taking home the AMBSR honors and the spoils of victory that go with it.

Four years ago, Schott, a hot rodder since he was 18, commissioned the Way brothers to build his dream car, a’32 Ford three-window coupe. The project started with a rendering from Jimmy Smith (also of Phoenix) and a rare Dearborn Deuce coupe (one of only five ever made). A chassis from the late Boyd Coddington was then massaged and upgraded with inboard coilover suspension. Under the hood, the Ways installed a painted and polished LS-1 mated to a 4L60 transmission with cruise control. All engine and chassis components were then meticulously polished and chromed taking the coupe to the “next level”.

The body and paint duties were performed in house by the All Ways team. The body was massaged and prepped along with subtly fabricated mods and additions such as the custom hood side “blisters” wrapped with stainless accents and a stainless wire mesh as is the grille. The paint chosen for the coupe is an electrifying House of Kolor mix called “Oriental Blue”.

The coupe’s Camel leather interior was stiched by Phoenix based Lux Interiors. Three on board cameras feed into an LED video screen in lieu of rearview and sideview mirrors. A DVD player and surround sound stereo system is also featured. The polished billet wheels, 18’s in front and 20’s out back are one off designs also from the late Boyd Coddington.

The coupe, which Schott calls “My Girl”, has only been out twice since being finished. It was a top five finalist for the Goodguys 2008 Street Rod d’Elegance earlier this spring in Del Mar before taking home all the marbles here in Pleasanton. It will be featured along with all other “Terrific 12” award winners at the season-ending Goodguys Southwest Nationals at Westworld of Scottsdale November 14-16.

Very nice little coupe. Not my style, but that's okay, because I'm sure my style doesn't appeal to everyone either. :D

Damn shame all you see is fiberglass and billet wheels. It's a steel car that was rechopped to fix "factory" flaws. Save for the tires, pretty much everything elese is fabricated from scratch or heavily modified.

The guy who posted this thread didn't do it to toot his own horn, he was congratulating another HOT ROD shop that pulled down a big phooking award (yeah, big deal, but it was important to the owner and brings attention to a shop that deserves some) and so props to them. Some of you guys are just un-frikkin-real. ..... Randy and the guys are the most modest, low key guys around and it's AWESOME that they were recognized for building the car that their customer had been dreaming of! This car is not my cup of tea, style wise, but I'm proud to say, I helped in some small way. This is a beautiful STREET ROD built by true craftsmen HOT RODDERS.

    Yeah, what were you thinkin'?!!!!

Are you coming by for those leaves?

  17. Come on you guys, you may not realize it but this is a TRADITIONAL argument about how Hot Rods are built and it has been going on for over 50 years!!!

You all may not be old enough to remember the saying "IF IT DON"T GO, CHROME IT!!!" which the hard core Hot Rodders used to describe the cars being built for the car shows and not racing. Although "Street Rodding" is a swear word now, it was a good thing that came out of the non driveable show cars and drag racing that wasn't fun or affordable anymore. It was about BUILDING and DRIVING your own Hot Rod and going all over the country for fun. There was NO aftermarket then. It came out of a time when anybody could go out and buy a high performance muscle car and blow away anyone in their old hot rod or street rod with ease. Sound familiar?? Sure its gone to sleeping in lawn chairs, fancy trailers and having a car built for some guys but like everything else, things change over time. What will you and this board be doing in 30 years?

You guys that are so outraged by a fellow HAMBER getting PAID to build a car for someone with bucks and getting an AWARD for it ought to lighten up and just pass by this thread if you don't appreciate that. Who needs all the drama anyway? Sure we are looking for TRADITIONAL threads but variety is the spice of life and we get some pretty interesting stuff on here, even if it's not always my bag. I appreciate the guy whose fingers are bleeding and has put way too many hours into building something, even if I don't like it. Hell, if we all liked the same thing I'd be in bed with your wife and we would driving stock, restored, pristine Corvettes, right!!! :D:D

it's still like that for me, no one cares about my old forgotten little import,no aftermarket, but i still built it to drive and enjoy, need to get it back on the road, I love going to car shows and seeing what other people have built, and sitting around listening to all the bullshit. :D thats what it's about enjoying your cars. so someone built it for someone else. it's a great car, maby not to everyones taste. but i'll bet he has a blast driving it.

Nobody was outraged. Maybe a few who are upset that not all get excited over new cars.

Guys at work can't understand why I'm not dreaming of a new Challenger either.

I'll bet it will win a few awards also.

if i had the money for someone to build something like that for me,I would drive the wheels off of it. forget trailer queens. if it's so valuable that you are afraid to drive it whats the point. everyone forgets the point of having a cool car, remember piquard on star trek? lets see whats out there. thats the point of having something unique and different. :) to drive it and see what you can find.

Very nice car and congrats for all the work done.To bad some of the traditional "snobs" on here are so close minded and do not realize we are all cut from the same mold but with different tastes. If it has 4 wheels and a motor just build it...Again awesome job and car.

This is why I will NEVER post pics of the Bonneville car my neighbor and I are building. It's a 1951 Lincoln but with the flatty but it will be on a custom chassis with, my god, disc brakes.
Custom Chassis w/ disc= Not HAMB Friendly
Modern Overdrive trans= Non HAMB friendly
4 door - Non HAMB friendly
3 strikes and I am out
I would rather have nobody here know it exist than listen to the bitching. Other than the tech, it is getting harder to read some post.
