    All,
trying to decide on what fuel pump I want, it's a traditional built 1947 Willys Universal with the flathead 4- L4-134 in it. I ordered a gl*** bowl fuel pump to find out it's an import, and, have since then lost the gasket sealing the bowl to the pump. I like the idea of electric pumps. The carb apparently (Solex instead of the original Carter) likes 2 psi I've been told. This is a question on reliability, since I will be going sometimes far far away from parts stores and don't want it cutting out. Also it may be going on angles on it's axis. Thanks

Use the stock pump, more reliable the a electric. But if you plan going out into the sticks a few spares would be in order anyway. Fuel pump coil ,points ,cap ,cond, rotor and DUCT tape. Murphy's law if you have a spare you will never need it !!!

  3. if you go electric use a carter. simple and bullet proof. their "street pump" with a decent regulator is a hard to beat setup.

don't use a holley. i went through 3 before i gave up (although those who have gotten a good one swear by em).

Well it's a mixed vote now, a mechanical would be cheaper in the end but who knows reliability and if it would actually pump fuel...
I went to NAPA for a Carter today and he didn't have one or know what I'm talking about (Fuel pump??) so I guess I'll be going online. What's the regulator look like?
