1956 to 1959 Chevy PU cab body exchange

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by specsintexas, Aug 24, 2008.

  1. Does anyone know if the cab body in a 1959 Chevy pickup is the same as the cab body in a 1956 Chevy pickup. I have been told by some that the cab bodies are the same except for the hood hinge points and inner fender bolt points. I have looked at both cab bodies and can't see any difference between the two. Am I missing something here? By the way, I have the 1956 cab body that needs lots of help and I have a line on a 1959 which is in rust free great condition for cheap. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Specs

It will work. Just cut a template and redo hinge holes. Don't forget the vin#
Don't know about the fenders but I think they are both the same mounts.

The wiper motor area is also different, the 58-59 wiper motor won't clear the 55-57 cab. And the heater holes are different.

Mostly it's just little stuff you have to worry about, so go for it.
