Hey Everyone, Sorry I couldn't post these sooner. A lot of great cars racing on a picture perfect day.
Also, there was this nice Roadster at the Historics. Couldn't find anyone to talk to about it, so hopefully someone knows more about it. It is apparently for sale too. The tag read that it did El Mirage, but clearly, my picture didn't get the details .
Thank you for posting the photos! Some of those cars will be at Lime Rock Park, Labor Day Weekend here in Connecticut.
Damn you roundlight, how the hell am I suppose to get anything done when you go and post all that auto****! Thanks man.
Like Rootie said, Thanks for posting.I'm going to a smaller version at Oulton park tomorrow.fantastic pictures,I can smell the castrol 'R' MMMM!
Mike.......Killer coverage of a lot of truly great cars!! Wonderful photographs........and the SCTA tag on that black roadster said the owner was *Automotive Specialties*.... Thanks very much for the great pics.........and now, I will go back to the top and look at them all over again! Brucie
Thanks for posting, some great machinery there. I remember the Elf 6 wheeler well. I even built a Tamiya model of it. Was Andretti driving the John Player Special? Isn't that the car that pioneered ground effects with the side skirts that actually touched the road? I was wondering if you saw any Can Am cars there. I'm not real familiar with road racing but did they not run at Monterey in their day?
Thanks for posting. Great pictures, nice detail shots. I went to Monterey Historics in 2006. If anyone is interested, you can see the Doane Spencer built Sunbeam Tiger on youtube. You can see and hear it backing out of a trailer. Very cool.
Andretti was driving the ground effects car, just hot lap after hot lap. Awesome. There were some Can-Am cars there, just had a hard time fighting the crowds on litteraly every shot. They had some pretty big crowds around them most the time. I will look through my pics though. Oh and I had a British model of both of these cars and still have them. I remember my dad making me turn the races off when they were going I think it was ssome late night broadcast or something.
