Hey guys, im in Destin Fl.... with spotty weather..just wondering if there were any cool car places to go here...dont matter what. anything from cool bone yards to antique car sales to show car museums. Got any Ideas?
Been there once...I remember a bowling alley with a '57 Chevy, '57(?) Thunderbird and a couple other cars perched on top of the building. All restored. Something to look at anyway...
Not really. there's a small Air Force Armament Museum just north of Shalimar if you like old planes (has a huge 44,000 lb bomb out front).
Ditto on the museum. I was there a month ago on vacation with the fam. Nothing "car" related to do that I found. I drove by the Elgin AFB on the way back to Texas and it looked interesting. SR-71. B-17, B-25, B-52 sitting out front. http://www.afarmamentmuseum.com/index.shtml
Man! somebody around this town has got to have something ! Shish.. even in arkansas I cant go 5 miles without seeing something cool.
Emerald cost dragway is having a big day this coming Saturday. There is a pretty good old car museum in Tallah***ee right off of I-10. With the weather looking to **** for the next day or two, think about a long day trip. It is a drive but you could go down to Ocala and see the Don Garlits museum. There isn't much in this area for car related stuff. The Air Force museum is put together well. The bowling alley has sold off all of the cars except for a cool old Studebaker that looks like someones old custom. It is v-8 powered, moon discs and had a custom interior. I saw it on the ground years ago. There is a small boneyard up near Crestview. The owner is s****ping out all of the new stuff and keeping the old stuff. It is pretty grown over but there are some neat old cars if you don' mind the bugs. Aside from that stuff the beer is cold, and the seafood is fresh. You could always stop by my place for a cold beer and stare at the galaxie......It doesn't look like much but it is mine.
Here's all the stuff that goes on in Tallah***ee every month. Schedule is included in the website .. http://www.tally-streetrodders.com/index.htm
Ha, I know how you feel, I'm originally from So Cal, but since being stationed out here haven't really been anywhere cool or noticed anything worth going to in the area. If there is some good places to go I would like to find out also.
Hey Josh... you are supposed to be at home working on that truck... what do you think this is, summer vacation??
Yeah, working on that truck would be a great vacation for me...but my wife... well. I believe I would have a short marriage. Gotta take care of the mrs. When I get back, my funds will be free'd and I have alot planned for the next 3 weeks. gotta finish the brakes all around, go to the bone yard and pull a column, install a shifter.... by the way I think it was pretty obvious which is the better shifter....Thanks for the tip... after that just a few odd and ends...exhaust, gotta get transtech to fix my park( they installed a wrong lever ) I gotta busy few weeks ahead.
