well fella's i bought a 57 210 hardtop (no post, not a bel air ) i have decided to paint it orange and in the fin where the bel air aluminum would go paint it white. it will have stock hub caps and wide whites. i wanted it to look OLD SCHOOL TOUGH! but was wondering if I could pic your brains about painting the top of the car white pro's and con's and maybe see some pics of some things you have seen or have built. any help would be great.
Scroll halfway down this page. There's a hardtop painted late 60's Mustang Compe***ion Orange. He had gold pearl sprayed over it and this thing glowed. It has that late 60's look like a tough street car would have, probably since that is exactly what this car is!! http://users.thewebstation.ca/~draggins.com/index.php?page=members-cars
It was running around in orange tinted primer but I am sure he repainted it the exact same. No pics of it though, sorry.
I think if you're going to paint the insert then the roof should be white too. There were a lot of 50's cars that had a two tone paint scheme with a painted side insert and they almost always had a matching colored roof, just looks right that way.
I'll try to post some pics of 210 4door. It's red with white roof (no side trim). I personally like the white roof look myself.
