I joined a club I don't want to be in. O/T

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Irish Mike, Aug 25, 2008.

  1. Sorry about your Dad. He's not suffering now. I know what you mean. My Dad was a car guy his entire 83 years. Was working on his latest Model T on Thursday. Woke up Friday, told my Mom he had a headache, and laid back down. Closed his eyes, and was gone. Brain anuerism. I worked along side him at our shop for over 45 years. He died in 2000, and I miss him every day, but I'm not sad about it. Man did everything in life he wanted to do, was still driving, worked on one of his T's the last day he lived, and went peacefully. We all should be so lucky. In time, you'll reflect on the good times with your Dad, and you will smile again.

I lost my dad to cancer 3 years ago... It's hard. Do as I do, remember him everyday and know he's behind you in everything you do...

I'm very sorry. My pops roofed houses for 46 years, finally retired last May, but had nothing but a paid off house for mom, got sick, no insurance, took his own life.
I don't know what else to say. I miss him.

Joined in 2002 and hated it. He lived a good life and went quickly while hospitalized for surgery. The operation went as planned and during the night the nurse went to take his vitals and he was gone.
My condolences, remember the good times and he will never be really gone.

Sorry and many condolences. I buried my grandfather today. 95 years young. Worked for Pan-Am as a carburetor specialist on radial engines. That should tell you how long hes been retired! Really fine man and by all regards a damn fine mechanic. Alzhiemers in the end. I truly am sorry for your loss. This club sucks. Fuckall.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Sounds like he was a good man, and he raised a good son. That's about all the legacy a man needs to leave this world.

    Hey Mike,
Sorry for your loss.Time takes the pain away slowly, but never the memories.
If it's any help, just try to be the person to others your dad was to you-that'll take some of the hurt out of your loss.
Good luck and best wishes to you and your family.
    Peace.

Hey Mike, I feel I need to chime in here, A fellow HAMBER who I did not know that well at the time called me when my dad passed away less than a year ago,we had a good talk about our dads taking us to the drag races and doing cool stuff together. It is the good memories of all those times in the past that we go back to for comfort. I had a moment at Mo-Kan this weekend right before I made a pass down the track when I thought of my dad, I fought a off the tears and said thanks dad, wish you could be here to share in all this fun. I visited his grave today for the first time since his funeral to say thanks DAD. :D Thanks for all the good times we had . God Bless DAD !

Sorry to hear about your Dad. 91 years is a long time on this earth, but I'm sure you wish for 91 more. It sounds like he was held in high regard by those that knew him. Keep your chin up and carry on just like you know he would want you to. My deepest sympathy to you and your folks.

    Adios,

    Scott

You have my condolenses! My Dad passed away 1yr ago tomorrow. It still stings like a b*tch when I look down @ the phone to ring him up for breakfast and realize he's never going to answer again. Just think about the good times and you'll get through it.

Hey man, I feel for you. I've joined the club twice now, first was my stepfather in Sept. 2005 to liver cancer, I really miss that guy. And the second time was this past Feb. 25 when my Dad was taken by prostate cancer. I haven't come to terms with that yet.

Remember the good times and everything he taught you over the years.

I hear what your saying and you have my sympathy. My father died in 99' after a 30 year struggle with MS. He was 61. He gave me that can-do attitude and left me a 38 ford that I will never sell. Then in 07' my car buddy and father-in-law died from lymphoma cancer within a year of getting it. He was 58. I still laugh at the good times and the little jokes we'd play on each other. Sucks not having them around.

I'm grateful for the time we had with them and always cherish the good times, stupid times, and the love we shared. Best of luck.

Sorry for your loss Mike:( I lost my Dad in May of this year. He was also the one who got me into what I do now. I guess the way I look at it is that he is able to be beside me in all I do every day. Take care-

    Hi Mike.
I lost my dad last year. My best friend. He was 71. It hasnt been easy and I hope the support of your family and friends helps you through this like it did me. It never gets easier for me, it just gets more familiar.
    My thoughts are with you.

My Dad's still around and kicking. This post has reminded me how important it is to tell him I still love him. Sometimes he can be a SOB, and he's no longer a car guy, but He's the only Dad I'll ever have.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers my friend.
