yeah I think dodge is the only one with dual cowl vents. I see '31 had 2 vents, but the relief in the cowl looks different
I've seen that picture before... Here's a link to one rodded http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272979
I don't think the dodge actually had dual cowl vents only the Chrysler and Desoto? Same relief in the cowl though. I'm with desertratrodder my 32 chrysler coupe body has vents just like that. I'm thinking that one is a 30 or 31, earlier than that I don't think they had dual vents and the windshield header looks different no visor on the 32. Firewall looks different too.Desoto had a divided winshield but not 2 seperate ones like the chrysler. chris
Going by the Dual Side mount spares I would lay my $$ on Chrysler or DeSoto. Tell Tale will be the dash, More research on the dash will PinPoint exactally what it is.
Dash has square cut holes for the gauges... Also, the top was removed and said to have an oval rear window..But the odd thing is,the grill doesn't match up to the car..
OK, my 30 dodge DD had a serial # tag on the passenger side of the firewall and the serial # stamped on the side of the drivers side of the frame just behind the REAR mount of the FRONT spring. Dual cowl vents as well.. I was thinking of making this thing a roadster.. After seeing these pics I think i will leave the roof on.. Dave
So,the cowl looks to be from a 30's Chrysler, and the dash from a 1930 Graham Paige, but where is the grill and the rest from??The rear half of the body looks too big to be that of a 1930 Chrysler, maybe this was something thrown together way back when??
graham had 2 cowl vents also so the cowl is graham paige i cant tell the rest . 2 side mounts can be seen inalot of the graham pictures.
So I have to bump this! This is my "CAR" here is where im at on this end... essex had dual cowl vents and reo had dual cowl vents graham paige had square gagues and there isnt a number stamped or placed anywhere on this thing i searched the whole world over. the body lines on the door match perfectly with the rear half and the top matches perfectly to have been removed from the rear half so i think this is some crazy intergalactic time machince doo hicky. anyone else have any more insight? I have searched and searched for a mopar with twin cowl vents but havent seen one!
IMO, rule out all mopars, the cowl embossing isn't the way mopar did it. If it were, where the bodyline sweeps up from the side of the cowl to the windshield, the line would keep curving back to the center of the hood in one continuous line/arc. On this car, the side bodyline curve stops at the windshield. That ridge embossed in the middle of the cowl looks straight and detached from the windshield. Not curved & flowing like a mopar Speaking of, that embossed ridge is a unique feature, haven't noticed one before. Might be a key feature to identifying the car. looks like time to dive into researching graham paiges. also looks like it might make a graceful hot rod. Good luck
Graham Paige didnt make very many 3 window coupes.... so im not saying thats not what it is, but the rear window is still an oval which graham paige wasnt and the grill doesnt match not to say that the grill is from something else altogether though
Certainly looks like the 31 Graham in the car pics index @ carnut.com Cowl and reveal appear the same. Bout same on grille. There's only a 4dr sedan on carnut to compare features with so grille could be model specific? I think only Plymouth used the oval window in the Mopar family. Don't know how connected Graham was, since they made trucks for em...
still wondering about this car. I have some better photos that i took of it so ill load them up this weekend and take some more. If anyone wants any specific photos let me know and ill take them so that we can all get a better look at this and that.
