I wish I could have found it before the rust monster ate on it, the tree fell on it and someone took most of the other decent parts away. :(

Someone really wanted a 5W coupe.
it recently sold for $15,544 ....:(

I believe I would have to buy a gl*** coupe before I paid that much.

    This is $4,775 ... for 11 grand difference, I believe I could live with the plastic 5W ... :D

That means alot coming from you. You have the steel deal as well, so I can see where a 15 k vs a $4775 purchase would make a whole lot of difference in the car building budget. More money to concentrate on the goodies for the project.

That coupe body isn't that bad, have it media blasted, jack the roof dent out and make a trunklid for it, then look at it. Plus it's got (what I ***ume is) an original frame and axle, plus someone said it's got a ***le.

Now think about that versus the fibergl*** one plus the cost of a frame, and how do you ***le it? At that point, the 15K doesn't seem that bad. I never understood why the 32 is so much cooler than a comperable A coupe, but you could justify that cost.

After you're done totally building the whole car with tons spent on bodywork, paint, upholstery, drivetrain, and whatever else, compare the two finished cars, the fibergl*** bodied one is probably going to be worth half. Then you'd be wishing you would have stepped up with the money to buy the steel car.

coupe looks good to me. 15 G's seems like the going rate. I guess the difference might be in ones own ability to fix the metal one? I don't know.

one thing for sure, when you finish the gl*** one you still don't own a 32 ford

I couldn't settle for fibergl***... If I couldnt afford a steel one, I would just change my plan

Hey Randy, didja see the auction with 3 deuces in it? A roadster, a 5w, and a Vickie. It's up to $105K for all 3.

$15K for that pile of ****. Sh*t has gotten out of hand. Sorry, but that is ridiculous. You have got to seriously want to be part of the pack and have the bucks to waste to spend that kind of money for that. Get an imagination and find another type car to work with. To me, hot rodding is not about spending $15K for stuff like that. $2-3K maybe tops for me. That just seems dumb.

I was watching that "jewel" on fleabay as well. The whole time thinking is this serious? NOW the ***le and stuff would be a bonus but like others have said I dont see the thrill of the 32 over a model A. Obviously the 32 is more sought after though.

I may be one of the few but I like A's better and not a 32 fan. 32 frame, yes. Body, not so much.

$4700 is about $4699 too much for a plastic one.

I'd rather spend the $15.5 and get the real thing.

I'd buy plastic and put the money into the paint and drive train than 15 for steel and another 5 on that to straighten it up. Put a good 'gl*** car next to a good steel car and lets have people guess correctly. Bet most can't tell the difference.

around 1980 you probably could have got that body for $2,000 but unless you know Mr. Peabody personally and he'll let you use his way-back machine you got to pay 2008 prices

What's the story on the Hudson in the background???

  24. The owner called me and offered the cars to me. He told me he wants 190,000 for the three or 75,000 for the 5-window,60,000 for the vicky and I didnt ask him about the roadster,im guessing around the 80's. kinda pricy. Does any one on here know the original owner to those cars??

Sadly, you are probably right, but I am just too traditional that way I guess, for better or worse. To me, it is about more of starting with not too much and building it into something cool. Not starting with a hugely expensive pile a **** and then spending even way more bucks from there to come up with some exclusive show piece bragging trophy.

If there aren't that many left and the price reflects it, well, that is just the way it is and time for the more creative hot rodders to move on to something else not as expensive. People, didn't hot rod them back in the day because they were so exclusive. Just the opposite actually.

I'd be too embarr***ed to tell anyone I knew, let alone my family, that I paid anywhere near that much for that.

I appreciate a steel 32 coupe as well as anyone, maybe even more than most here ... but I am no bodyman. I could buy one of the new Walden Speed Shop 3W bodies for almost 40 grand ... and have money left over ... by the time I paid my bodyman to fix the 15 grand 5W. :(

We should go in together, pool out money and MAYBE we would have enough. :D
I would be afraid of the seller, myself.

Guess I'm lucky in a way, I don't have to deal with the steel vs gl*** thing. My 34 Plymouth is all steel including the running boards and fenders . And so is the 57 Olds :D.

But a guy I know has a 32 3wc built in the old school traditional way and it looks totally *****in'. Chopped top, dressed flattie, drum brakes with finned buick drums up front, 4" dropped front axle, original Guide 682-c head lights, red steelies with baby moons and stainless trim rings. Totally awesome. One damn good looking highboy. Then one day he opened the trunk to get something out and I saw it. Fibergl***. Inner quarter panels. The car is a gl*** car with a metal 32 firewall fabbed in. Without ever seeing the inside of the trunk I would have never guessed that it was anything other than a real deal steel car. God, it is gorgeous. The owner said he did all of the work himself and it took quite a while, plus he wanted to use the steel firewall to make it truly authenic looking.

Although I stil prefer steel over gl***, I would take that one in a heart beat.:cool:

And people wonder why young kids aren't into old cars. Obscenely high prices are like Kryptonite to younger guys & gals who are just starting out. Yes there are still affordable cars to be had, but the deals are fewer and farther everyday. This kind of stuff puts kids into that annoying import that you hate. Gl*** or steel, who really cares, just put some thing together and get out there and drive it.
