im quite surprised by the number of people saying they would drive a more door and accept it as a hotrod - this board is well known for people being into traditional hotrods - more door cars were shunned by hotrodders back in the day and they were very seen as very UNCOOL - maybe the people on this board arent as hardcore hotrodders as they seem...wannabe comes to mind :)

  7. You have an interesting perspective. Perhaps what you say may be true. Re-read the title and don't read any more into it than that. ;)
A simple question.... nothing to do with what is or isn't a hotrod. That has already been discussed to the nth degree, everywhere. :(
    Cheers!

your right it isnt in the title but it is in the posters question about the car being a hotrod / streetrod as you can see below :)

  9. Yes, you are correct. I did see that as well, and thanx for reminding me. I do think tho' that the majority here are pretty well purists, or hardcore or even for that matter traditional minded folk. 2dr, 4 dr, custom whatever. A little bit of variety never hurt anyone. :) My Dad for one had a 38 Ford sedan (amongst many others in the '50's ) that he and his mates would cruise in and get up to all sorts of mischief with. It was tricked here and there. Never quite as lucky as our US counterparts with 2 door cars or roadsters etc. We made do with what we had back then and often even now. I guess to them, it was a hot rod and they enjoyed it. Just like the other coupes and sedans and English motorcycles. Good call tho'
    Cheers.

We love our '51 Pontiac wagon (4 doors + long roof = big fun) and the '62 Impala 4dr hardtop I just finished for my son is WAY cool, and a nice car to boot.

Back when I was young and foolish, I thought 4 doors and wagons were uncool 'cause that's what everybody's parents drove, but now I know better:cool:. Cars don't make a person cool, the person makes the car cool! The number of doors doesn't matter, it's who's behind the doors and what they've done.

We have cars with 4 doors, two doors, roof's cut off and roof's that are fixed. I've made 4 doors into convert's with two doors, 4 doors into convertible sedans and sedans into roadsters, so I guess the number of doors doesn't matter much to me, it's what I see the finished car to be. I care less what anybody else thinks of how many doors it has.

<----does three count as more? if so thani already did. that said, i wouldnt buy a four door to make a hotrod out of, but for a custom or cruiser, sure why not? some fourdoors just look out of proportion, but not all. just look at the chevy above, if you think thats ugly, then your biased like a white wall tire! could use a hood though, but its not my car and thats just opinion.

I have owned a 1927 dodge brothers 4-door. 2 1928 dodge brothers 4-doors. 1931 chevy 4-door cars and would own another if i could find them. To me all the 4-door cars look just as good as any 2-door.

  20. Some really nice 4 door cars out there. Definitely would buy one.

Sure I'd buy One. I don't suffer from fourdooraphobia.

Do you think the number of doors is directly porportional to the amount of people in the family? Me- I'm usually am the only person in the car. Wife not interested- kids long gone. Lots of friends- but usually everyone drives their own cars.

If I had a race car, and a pit crew, and the car had a hitch, and push bumper....Then yes a four-door would be really cool.

I have owned several over the years and I have enjoyed the hell out of every last one of them. I am actually building one right now.

I never thought I would be an owner of a 4 door, but I picked one up (originally to use as a parts car) once I saw the interior, I had to keep it. It was so clean. No rips, stains, missing pieces. I had to leave it unmolested.

  27. Could have sworn you had a four-door. Wasn't it a green '60 chevy?

    Works well for us!

Theres anywhere from 4-7 of us on the crew, its nice to get everyone loaded up and down track in one semi smooth motion, and the stude drags the altered around like its not even there!

I like mine, I would never have been able to afford it if it was a 2 door.

Myself, i wouldn't or don't go looking for 4-doors, but i have stumbled upon a decent, solid, buildable '36 Plymouth 4-door, for $700.00, that would make a sweet on the ground Hot Rod! It's really a good solid old car! Not really something i would beg, borrow or steal to purchase, but it could be really Cool!!!!
